Katy ISD Celebrates Excellence in Education with Prestigious 'Of the Year' Awards Ceremony

In an annual display of admiration and respect for its educators, Katy ISD celebrated a total of 33 individuals at its "Of the Year" Awards Ceremony, according to a release from Katy ISD. The honorees were recognized for their exceptional service, dedication, and impact on students, families, colleagues, and the broader community. The teachers, selected as Campus Rookies of the Year and Campus Teachers of the Year, significantly contribute to Katy ISD's enduring legacy of educational excellence.

Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Schools, expressed his admiration for the honorees in a heartfelt address. “To be recognized as an ‘Of the Year’ honoree in this premier district is an honor reserved for the most exceptional individuals. Thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to the art and craft of education,” he said. He ended the memorable evening by adding, “Together, we create the masterpieces that pave the way for our students to live honorable, fulfilling lives and create the future.”

Among those honored were Districtwide Principals of the Year, Debbie Barker of Pattison Elementary and Dr. Ethan Crowell of Jordan High School. Districtwide Teachers of the Year were Jaymee Herrington from Cimarron Elementary and Sara Burke from Taylor High School. The district also celebrated Districtwide Rookie Teachers of the Year, with Makenzie Andarsio from Holland Elementary and Jessica Mayhew from Morton Ranch High School being awarded.

The "Of the Year" recognitions spanned numerous categories, including Districtwide Counselors, Library Media Specialists, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), ARD Facilitator, Diagnostician, Nurse and other roles critical to the success of students' education.

The Cinco Ranch High School Orchestra added to the evening's festivities with resounding performances enjoyed by all in attendance.

The annual “Of the Year” Awards Ceremony is a testament to Katy ISD's commitment to celebrating the hard work, passion, and dedication of its staff members, reinforcing their positive influence on students, families, and the wider community.
