How Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries Brings Hope—And How You Can Help

August 29 2025

When a family in Tomball suddenly finds themselves struggling—a layoff, a medical bill, an empty pantry—many turn to Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM). For nearly four decades, TEAM has been there with open doors and open arms, offering not just help, but hope.

Founded in 1986 by a coalition of 11 churches—and now supported by 21—TEAM has grown into a community anchor. In 2023 alone, TEAM welcomed 4,145 client visits, filled 3,359 grocery orders, distributed 1,571 household goods, and provided more than $476,000 in food and financial assistance. Behind those numbers are stories: children heading to school with full bellies, parents who could keep the lights on another month, and seniors who found friendship alongside groceries.

A Resale Shop That Changes Lives

Step into TEAM’s Resale Shop on Main Street in downtown Tomball and you’ll find racks of clothing, rows of home décor, shelves of books, and even bridal gowns. But what you’re really stepping into is a mission in motion. Every purchase—whether it’s a backpack for the new school year or a sofa for a first apartment—feeds directly back into the community, funding programs that keep families afloat in times of crisis.

It’s not just a store. It’s 10,000 square feet of possibility. And thanks to daily and weekly discounts for veterans and seniors, it’s also a place where shopping feels good twice over: for your wallet and for your community.

The Pantry That Feeds Both Body and Spirit

At TEAM’s food pantry, volunteers carefully bag groceries with the same attention they’d give their own families. Neighbors donate canned beans, rice, cereal, diapers, and toiletries, while TEAM supplements with purchases from the Houston Food Bank. Families leave not only with food, but with dignity—knowing they are seen and supported.

Open Tuesdays and Thursdays, the pantry stays full because neighbors in Tomball give from the heart to help one another.

The Power of People

Perhaps TEAM’s greatest strength is its volunteers. Hundreds of community members give thousands of hours every year, greeting families at the door, sorting donations, stocking shelves, and guiding neighbors through tough moments with compassion. Others help behind the scenes, planning events, creating newsletters, or even running the cash register at the resale shop.

Every volunteer, every donation, every grocery bag handed across the counter reminds someone in Tomball that they are not alone.

How You Can Be Part of the Story

  • Shop or donate at the TEAM Resale Shop, open Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

  • Bring food donations on Wednesdays or Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Cherry Street alley entrance.

  • Volunteer your time, whether weekly or monthly, at the resale shop, pantry, or through casework.

  • Give financially to sustain TEAM’s programs—TEAM receives no government funding and relies fully on the generosity of neighbors, churches, and local businesses.

TEAM has been a beacon in Tomball for nearly 40 years, lighting the way for families who need it most. Their mission is simple, but powerful: that no one in our community should go hungry, go without hope, or feel forgotten.
