Help Katy Christian Ministries Bring Thanksgiving Cheer to Families in Need

November 01 2023

With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, consumers are beginning to plan and shop for all of the delicious comfort foods they enjoy each year. As families and friends gather for this national holiday at tables across the Katy area, some tables might not be as full due to economic hardship, loss of employment, disability or a myriad of other struggles that will ultimately put a damper on celebrations.

To help bridge the gap, Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) will once again host their annual holiday initiative, A Turkey for Every Table. The program aims to provide a turkey or ham for each of their food pantry families this holiday season. KCM has set a goal of 1,200 turkeys and/or hams to help families in need across the Katy area, including veterans.

In addition to turkeys and hams, KCM is also accepting monetary donations and gift cards to Walmart, Kroger, HEB, and other grocers to purchase turkeys and hams. Food Donations can be dropped off at the KCM Food Pantry, located at 3506 Porter Rd. Katy, TX, 77493, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. Donations for this initiative will be accepted through December 11.

For those short on time but eager to help, simply donate online towards this initiative and KCM will purchase turkey(s) or ham(s) on your behalf. Click here to make your donation online.

A Turkey for Every Table is one of 21 sub-programs led by Katy Christian Ministries. With a focus on social services, a Crisis Center, food pantry and resale stores, KCM has served the most vulnerable in the Katy community since the early 1980s.

In 2022 alone, KCM distributed 1,381,900 meals and 1,658,280 pounds of food to food insecure families, serving 7,388 unduplicated families throughout 2022. In addition, KCM offered 34,561 case management sessions, distributed $407,863 to families at high risk for eviction and homelessness, loss of utility services or other essential needs, and provided gifts to thousands of children and senior adults in need through the Santa's Sleigh program.
