Harvest Green Welcomes ‘The Slice,’ a Colorful New Amenity Complex Designed for Family Fun

For families searching for one of the newest neighborhood amenities in the Richmond area, Harvest Green has added another destination designed to bring neighbors together.

The award-winning master-planned community has officially opened The Slice, its second amenity complex, expanding the lifestyle offerings available to residents with resort-style pools, an inclusive playground, pickleball courts and flexible community gathering spaces. Inspired by the citrus orchards found throughout Harvest Green, the new complex continues the development's signature blend of agriculture, recreation and community living.

A New Gathering Place Inspired by the Community's Agricultural Roots

Located within Harvest Green, The Slice embraces a playful citrus theme from the moment residents arrive. Designed by SWA Houston, the amenity center features vibrant shades of pink and yellow that reflect grapefruit and citrus fruit grown throughout the community.

Its standout attraction is a water recreation area featuring two pools designed to resemble grapefruit slices, accompanied by two water slides, an interactive splash pad and shaded lounge areas for families seeking relief from the Texas heat. The pool house, designed by Tramonte Design Studio, carries the same cheerful design throughout the complex.

"The Slice was designed to reflect our position as Houston's premier agrihood," said David Hogue, Vice President and General Manager of Harvest Green. "It is a welcome addition to our other amenities and serves as a joyful spot where families can relax and make lasting memories."

Beyond the aquatic amenities, residents will also find:

  • An event lawn for neighborhood gatherings
  • A pickleball court
  • Space for rotating food trucks
  • Restroom facilities
  • Covered seating and gathering areas

Inclusive Playground Offers Something for Every Child

The Slice also introduces a thoughtfully designed playground that reflects Harvest Green's farming heritage while making play more accessible.

Children can climb aboard a tractor-themed play structure, enjoy swings and climbing features, or race down a slide built into a custom play mound designed to resemble rows of crops. A sensory play area featuring a sand pit and children's water table provides additional opportunities for exploration and interactive play.

According to Olivia Pinner of SWA, accessibility played an important role in the playground's design.

"We wanted to provide a variety of play options for various groups and abilities," she said.

The result is a space intended to welcome children with different interests, ages and abilities while encouraging imaginative outdoor play.

Building on Harvest Green's Farm-Centric Lifestyle

The addition of The Slice builds on the collection of amenities already available throughout the Harvest Green master-planned community.

Developed as Houston's first farm-centric—or "agrihood"—community, Harvest Green spans approximately 1,700 acres in Richmond and blends traditional neighborhood living with active agriculture. At the heart of the development is the community's 12-acre Village Farm, where fresh produce is grown and residents can connect with local farming through educational programs, seasonal events and opportunities to grow food of their own.

That agricultural identity extends throughout the neighborhood with orchards, open green spaces, lakes, walking trails and community events centered around healthy living and outdoor recreation. Families are also served by Fort Bend ISD, including three schools located within the community.

The Slice complements an already extensive lineup of amenities. Harvest Green is also home to The Farmhouse, which earned recognition as the Texas Association of Builders' Best Amenity Center in 2023. The Farmhouse includes a clubhouse, resort-style pool, splash pad and fitness center, while residents also enjoy tennis courts, additional playgrounds, a bark park, scenic trails and waterways.

Part of Johnson Development's Award-Winning Vision

Harvest Green is one of the signature communities developed by Johnson Development Corp., one of the nation's most recognized residential land developers.

Celebrating 51 years since its founding in 1975, Johnson Development has built a reputation for creating thoughtfully planned communities that pair distinctive amenities with long-term value. Its portfolio includes many of Texas' best-known master-planned communities, including Sienna, Riverstone, Cross Creek Ranch, Woodforest, Viridian and Lake Arrowhead, along with developments in the Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and Atlanta metropolitan areas.

The company's approach emphasizes sustainable planning, community gathering spaces and lifestyle-focused amenities that encourage residents to connect with one another—an approach clearly reflected in Harvest Green's newest addition.

Opportunities Remain for Future Residents

The opening of The Slice comes as Harvest Green nears another milestone in its development. Several of the community's award-winning builders are now selling their final homes, with nine professionally decorated model homes currently available for touring.

Homes are priced from the $470,000s to more than $1 million, offering options for a variety of buyers seeking a community that combines modern amenities with a distinctive agricultural lifestyle.

For residents, The Slice represents more than just another neighborhood pool. It adds another place where children can play, neighbors can gather and families can create traditions together—further strengthening the sense of community that has become a defining feature of Harvest Green.

As Richmond and Fort Bend County continue to grow, investments like The Slice demonstrate how thoughtfully designed amenities can help neighborhoods remain places where residents don't simply live—they build lasting connections.
