Harris County Sheriff's Office and Kroger to Celebrate Local Military and First Responders in Katy

June 28 2024

On Saturday, June 29, 2024, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting an event in collaboration with Kroger to honor our local heroes at the Kroger Marketplace in Katy. The event, aimed at honoring all military personnel and first responders, will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 2700 West Grand Parkway N, Katy, Texas, 77449.

The community is encouraged to interact with their local heroes, explore career opportunities and eligible participants could walk away with recognition and product giveaways. The event will feature vehicle showcases, the kickoff for the 10K for Troops, a car show, food trucks, a DJ set, and a hiring event by Kroger and the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

A special feature of the event will be the Taste of Kroger Experience, allowing guests to sample a variety of items from different food and drink vendors. All these products are also available at local Kroger stores.

This event is a part of Kroger's Honoring Our Heroes Program. Launched in 2009, the program is Kroger’s way of showing appreciation to America's brave men and women who risk their lives to safeguard our freedom and values. This collaboration with the USO opens up opportunities for veterans, active duty military personnel, and their families. Notably, since the initiation of their program, Kroger been able to provide employment to nearly 45,000 veterans.

The program also marked a significant moment during the 2019 Honoring Our Heroes 5K when the Veterans Associate Resource Group partnered with Warrior Homesteads to gift a tiny, eco-friendly home to a local veteran experiencing homelessness. In addition to providing a roof over their head, Kroger also donated $500 to fill their shelves with fresh produce to ease their settling-in process.
