Harris County ESD 11 and Spring Fire Department Collecting Critical Donations for Kerrville Flood Victims

July 10 2025

As Texas continues to grapple with the aftermath of the catastrophic July 4th flooding in the Hill Country, communities across the state are stepping up to provide support—including right here in Harris County. Harris County Emergency Services District No. 11 (ESD 11) and the Spring Fire Department have launched a joint effort to serve as donation collection sites for much-needed relief supplies bound for Kerr County.

“The devastation of the flooding in the Kerrville area is heavy on our hearts here at Harris County ESD 11,” said ESD 11 officials in a public statement. “We, along with our community members, want to do what we can to ease the suffering.”

Donation boxes have been placed at ESD 11’s Administrative Building, located at 18334 Stuebner Airline Rd., Tomball, TX 77375, which is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In partnership with the Spring Fire Department, additional donation boxes are accessible at all Spring Fire stations in the region. A full list of Spring Fire stations can be found at springfd.org/our-coverage-area.

These collection points are now gathering essential supplies for flood survivors, displaced families, and first responders working around the clock in the devastated region. Items needed include:

  • Baby supplies: diapers, wipes, formula, clothing, socks, shoes, and undergarments
  • Emergency gear: tents, solar-powered or battery-operated fans, propane canisters, lanterns, and flashlights
  • Hygiene and cleaning products: bleach, Lysol wipes, trash bags, toiletries, feminine hygiene items, and first-aid kits
  • Food and water: bottled water, canned goods, protein bars, baby food, and pet food
  • Household basics: bug spray, blankets, coolers, batteries

Freedom Waterproofing, a local company, has volunteered to personally deliver all donated items to official distribution centers in the Kerrville area. The company is also picking up donated supplies on Tuesdays and Fridays at participating donation locations in Katy, Spring, Cleveland, Columbus, and Brenham, making it even easier for residents across Southeast Texas to contribute.

The call for aid comes in response to what has become one of the deadliest natural disasters in Texas history. Over the July 4th weekend, more than 20 inches of rain fell in Central Texas within 24 hours due to a stalled storm system enhanced by remnants of Tropical Storm Barry. The Guadalupe River rose a staggering 26 feet in under an hour, unleashing catastrophic flash floods that ravaged entire communities.

Kerr County was particularly hard hit. The floodwaters devastated Camp Mystic, a beloved Christian girls' camp in Hunt, resulting in 27 confirmed fatalities among campers and counselors, with several still unaccounted for. Statewide, at least 120 lives have been lost, and more than 160 individuals remain missing, according to the latest emergency response reports.

In response, more than 2,200 state personnel, alongside federal teams from FEMA, have been deployed across the region to aid in search and rescue, disaster relief, and recovery efforts.

Community members across Harris County and beyond are encouraged to take part in this relief effort. Donations made locally will provide immediate, tangible support to families enduring unimaginable loss and displacement.
