August 24 2023

A free spay/neuter event coming up for residents of unincorporated Fort Bend County at the end of the month.

Thanks to a grant from Houston PetSet, Fort Bend PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) and Fort Bend County Animal Services are working with Laurel's House to provide free spay/neuter services to the residents of unincorporated Fort Bend County. On Tuesday, August 29 at FBCAS, a one-day spay/neuter clinic will be available at Fort Bend County Animal Services located at 1210 Blume Road in Rosenberg beginning at 8:00 AM.

Appointments are limited and one pet per address will be eligible. To make an appointment, please call 281-342-1512 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Houston PetSet is on mission to end homelessness and suffering of companion animals and elevate their status in society. Their programs focus on out-of-state transports of animals to rescue partners in the Midwest, as well as spay and neuter services right here in Houston.

According to Houston PetSet, only 10% of animals received in U.S. shelters are spayed or neutered. Each year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because shelters are overcrowded, and there are not enough adopters, fosters and rescues. Houston PetSet has helped tens of thousands of homeless pets avoid being killed every year by placing them in new, loving homes. With the help of partnerships, grants, events, research and the community at large, Houston PetSet aims to raise  awareness of the problem, encourage our elected officials to get more involved, and most of all, raise the funds needed to protect the animals and solve the problem.
