Fort Bend Junior Service League Empowers Local Organizations with Grants and Fundraising Events

October 28 2024

In their continued efforts to support local organizations, the Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) continues to channel its resources through the Event Beneficiary (EB) and Community Assistance Fund (CAF) grant programs. Evaluated based on their specific needs and alignment with the League's goals, beneficiary applicants have the opportunity to significantly advance their missions through FBJSL's support. This year, the Beneficiary Review Committee (BRC) has conducted in-person interviews with nearly 40 potential Event Beneficiaries.

FBJSL, a league of women dedicated to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the Fort Bend County community, has prioritized the selection of organizations that will flourish with their support. Since its inception in 2001, FBJSL has donated more than $5.75 million to non-profit agencies in the Fort Bend community, bolstering their abilities to provide critical services throughout the county.

The annual Sugar Plum Market serves as a significant fundraising event that bolsters these efforts. This cherished event, taking place from November 6th to 9th at the Stafford Centre, invites the wider community to partake in raising essential funds for local nonprofits. More information is available at sugarplummarket.com

Aligned with the FBJSL commitment to offer swift assistance to organizations in urgent need, the Community Assistance Fund (CAF) provides smaller, emergency-focused grants throughout the year. Recently, the Fort Bend YMCA and the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation were among the recipients of these CAF grants. The application process for CAF grants is ongoing, and further information can be found at fbjsl.org/request-support

The Fort Bend Junior Service League continues to foster an atmosphere of friendliness, goodwill, and camaraderie for all its members while remaining steadfast in its mission to aid local organizations. Offering targeted support and a platform for effective action and leadership, FBJSL remains an invaluable asset to the Fort Bend community.
