Eat Drink HTX Celebrates Four Years of Dining for a Difference, Supporting Kids' Meals and Houston’s Hungry

January 08 2025

The Cleverley Stone Foundation is gearing up for the fourth annual Eat Drink HTX, a two-week dining event aimed at raising funds for two crucial Houston nonprofits: Kids' Meals and the Houston Food Bank. This popular event, which will take place from February 15th to February 28th, 2025, encourages local restaurants to join the effort by offering prix fixe menus and donating a portion of their proceeds to combat hunger and support families in need.

Eat Drink HTX, which originated as a sister event to Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW), offers an exciting way for Houstonians to enjoy meals while making a tangible difference in their community. This year, the event is collaborating with Kids' Meals, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Houston. Founded in 2006, Kids' Meals has been delivering free, nutritious meals year-round to the doorsteps of preschool-aged children facing hunger due to poverty. Their goal is to alleviate the suffering of over 80,000 children in the Houston area who are uncertain about where their next meal will come from.

Beth Braniff Harp, Chief Executive Officer of Kids' Meals, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Being part of Eat Drink HTX 2025 is an amazing opportunity to turn the joy of dining out into hope for hungry children. Kids' Meals is deeply thankful for the support from participating restaurants and diners, whose generosity will help us continue to feed preschoolers in Houston and build brighter futures.”

In addition to supporting Kids' Meals, Eat Drink HTX also benefits the Houston Food Bank, an organization that has served the greater Houston area since 1982. The Food Bank is committed to providing food for better lives, distributing over 150 million nutritious meals annually across 18 counties. By collaborating with local food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community organizations, the Houston Food Bank plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity and offering vital resources to families in need.

The Cleverley Stone Foundation was established to continue the philanthropic legacy of Cleverley Stone, the founder of Houston Restaurant Weeks. Stone’s vision was to connect Houston’s vibrant dining community with those in need, and the foundation continues to raise funds through HRW and Eat Drink HTX. To date, Houston Restaurant Weeks has raised over $21 million for local charities.

Carrying on the legacy built by her mother, Katie Stone, President of the Cleverley Stone Foundation, shared her excitement about the inclusion of Kids' Meals as a beneficiary for 2025, saying, “I am thrilled to announce Kids' Meals as a 2025 beneficiary of Eat Drink HTX. Their dedication to ending childhood hunger by providing free, healthy meals to preschool-aged children is truly inspiring. As someone passionate about supporting children and families in our community, I am confident that their impact will continue to change lives and bring hope to those who need it most.”

The prix fixe menu options include dinner for $25, lunch for $15, and brunch for $15, with a portion of each sale being donated to the cause. Restaurants will donate $3 for each dinner sold, $1 for each lunch, and $1 for each brunch.

Brian Greene, President/CEO of Houston Food Bank, commented on the partnership, stating, “Eat Drink HTX has strengthened our mission of providing food for better lives, and this year, it will also amplify the outstanding work of Kids' Meals. Funds raised through this event will nourish children and families in our community. We are thankful to The Cleverley Stone Foundation and to all who will participate in Eat Drink HTX for their incredible generosity and commitment to making a difference.”

This year’s event features a mix of returning favorites and new participants, such as 7 Spice Cajun, Adair Kitchen, Mala Sichuan, The Sylvie, and Phat Eatery. Diners will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of cuisines, from casual dining options to upscale eateries, all while contributing to a cause that makes a profound impact on the lives of local children and families. Restaurant registration for the event opened today at www.EatDrinkHTX.com, and participating restaurant menus will be available starting February 1, 2025.
