For Katy families, getting a child’s ears pierced can be one of those small-but-big milestones — exciting for the child, a little nerve-racking for the parent and often followed by plenty of photos. A growing national company built specifically around making that experience more clinical, comfortable and celebratory is now preparing to open at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch.

Rowan, a woman-founded ear piercing and jewelry company known for having licensed nurses perform its piercings, is coming to 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Suite F155, in Katy. Rowan’s own website now lists the LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch studio as “Coming Soon,” confirming the brand’s planned arrival in the Katy area.

The new studio adds a specialized service to one of Cinco Ranch’s best-known shopping and dining destinations — and gives Katy-area parents another local option when the first-ear-piercing conversation eventually comes up.

Rowan’s LaCenterra Studio Moves Closer to Opening

Construction filings for the project show a $230,000 renovation of a 656-square-foot tenant space within LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch.

The project lists construction beginning July 15, 2026, with an anticipated completion date of Oct. 1, 2026. The scope is described as a full renovation of the existing tenant space.

That construction completion date should not necessarily be read as an official opening date. As of Sept. 17, Rowan’s website still lists the Katy studio as “Coming Soon,” and operating hours have not yet been posted. The company says walk-ins will be welcomed at the location, although appointments are encouraged.

What Is Rowan?

Rowan grew from founder and CEO Louisa Schneider’s experience as a mother trying to decide where to have her own daughter’s ears pierced.

Schneider has said the traditional choices did not provide the combination she was looking for: piercing shops did not feel sufficiently medical to her, while a pediatrician’s office did not necessarily make the occasion feel like the milestone it can be for a child. That led her to build Rowan around the idea of combining medical practices with a more welcoming and celebratory experience.

That distinction remains at the center of the Rowan concept.

Rather than operating as a traditional jewelry counter or piercing shop, Rowan says all of its piercings are performed by licensed nurses trained under the company’s Rowan Clinical Piercing Standard. Its program is also supported by a medical advisory board.

How Rowan Piercing Works

Rowan offers both needle piercing and device piercing, with the method depending on a customer’s age, desired placement and jewelry selection.

Needle piercings use a single-use, sterilized hollow-bore needle and can accommodate placements including the lobe, helix, forward helix, tragus, conch and flat. At Rowan, needle piercing is available beginning at age 5.

The company’s device method, meanwhile, uses a hand-pressurized piercing device controlled by the nurse rather than a traditional spring-loaded piercing gun. Device piercing is offered for all ages at the Katy location, according to Rowan.

Rowan says its piercing services can accommodate customers ranging from babies to adults, making the concept as much about a child’s first earrings as it is about adults adding another piercing or creating a curated ear.

Hypoallergenic Jewelry and Aftercare Are Part of the Concept

Jewelry is another major part of Rowan’s business.

The company focuses on hypoallergenic materials and says its earrings use premium metals rather than nickel, brass or zinc. Its jewelry selections include materials such as titanium, 14-karat gold, gold over titanium, sterling silver and other premium-metal options depending on the piece.

Rowan also builds aftercare into the piercing process rather than treating it as an afterthought. The company offers piercing aftercare products and complimentary follow-up evaluations to check how a new piercing is healing.

For families with younger children, that combination — piercing, jewelry selection and follow-up care under one brand — is intended to make the process easier to navigate from the first appointment through healing.

Rowan Has Grown to More Communities Across the Country

The Katy opening comes during a period of significant expansion for Rowan.

The company reported opening 37 new studios during 2025 alone, expanding into four additional states and reaching 100 studios nationwide by the end of that year. Rowan also reported surpassing one million ears pierced under its clinical piercing standard.

Texas is already part of that growing footprint.

Rowan operates studios in markets including Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and McAllen, among other Texas communities. Its Houston-area presence includes a studio at CITYCENTRE, while other Texas locations include Central Park in Austin, Preston Royal Village in Dallas and WestBend in Fort Worth.

The LaCenterra location will bring that concept farther west into Katy and Cinco Ranch, placing it in a retail center already regularly visited by families from Cinco Ranch, Fulshear, Richmond and surrounding west Houston communities.

What Katy Families Should Know Before Visiting

Rowan’s current page for the LaCenterra studio lists both lobe and cartilage piercing services.

The company also notes that Texas requirements apply when minors receive certain piercings. For a minor seeking a cartilage piercing, Rowan says a parent or legal guardian must accompany the child and provide documentation establishing the relationship, along with valid identification.

Pricing currently published for the Katy studio lists device piercing at $35 for one piercing or $50 for two, plus the price of jewelry. Needle piercing starts at $35 per piercing plus jewelry, depending on the service. Because pricing and policies can change before or after opening, customers should confirm current details directly with Rowan when booking.

What Happens Next at LaCenterra

For now, Katy shoppers passing through LaCenterra can expect to see the small 656-square-foot space taking shape as Rowan prepares for its arrival.

The project’s construction schedule points to early October for completion of the tenant renovation, but Rowan has not yet published an official grand-opening date or regular studio hours. Its dedicated Cinco Ranch page remains active and identifies the location as coming soon.

Once open, Rowan will bring something relatively specialized to LaCenterra: a studio built almost entirely around the moment someone decides to get pierced — whether that is an infant’s first pair of earrings, a nervous elementary-schooler finally deciding she is ready, a teenager adding a cartilage piercing or an adult building out an ear stack.

For a shopping center surrounded by family-oriented Cinco Ranch neighborhoods, it is an addition that fits naturally into the everyday milestones happening across the community.
