Rotary Club of Katy Awards $60,000 to 21 Local Charities Through Wild West Brewfest and Katy Rice Harvest Festival Proceeds
For many Katy residents, attending the Wild West Brewfest or spending an afternoon at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival is simply a chance to enjoy good food, entertainment and time with friends. But the money raised at these popular community events continues to make a difference long after the festivities end.
On October 22, 2026, the Rotary Club of Katy awarded $60,000 in grants to 21 nonprofit organizations, supporting everything from food assistance and children's programs to healthcare, veterans' services and community improvement projects. The grants, presented during the club's weekly luncheon, were funded entirely through proceeds from the Wild West Brewfest and Katy Rice Harvest Festival.
With this latest round of donations, the Rotary Club of Katy has now committed $73,000 to 24 organizations during the 2026–27 Rotary year, adding to a five-year history of charitable giving that has directed hundreds of thousands of dollars toward Katy-area causes.
For the volunteers, sponsors, brewers and festivalgoers who help make these events possible, the announcement offers a look at where their contributions ultimately go.
"Rotary's motto is Service Above Self, and these grants are what that looks like in Katy," said David Loesch, Chairman of the Wild West Brewfest. "Every organization on this list is doing hard, important work. We are proud that a day of great beer and good company turns into real help for the people they serve."
Where the Rotary Club of Katy's $60,000 in Community Grants Will Make a Difference
The Rotary Club of Katy's charitable giving reaches a wide range of local organizations, including several that Katy families may already know through their schools, churches, neighborhood volunteer efforts or personal experiences.
Among the recipients is Katy Christian Ministries, which provides food assistance, emergency financial support and other services to families experiencing hardship. Organizations such as Operation Turkey, Rise Against Hunger, Feed the Hunger and Katy Responds also receive support through the club's charitable initiatives.
Education and youth development remain important priorities. The Katy ISD Education Foundation helps fund educational opportunities for students and teachers, while Katy ISD FFA programs give students hands-on experience in agriculture, leadership and career development.
Additional support reaches Foster Village Houston, the Cinco Ranch High School Choir, Scouting programs and YMCA water safety initiatives.
For families dealing with illness or limited access to medical care, Rotary funding also benefits organizations such as Christ Clinic, Adira Clinic, Her Well Center and Relay for Life. The club's charitable commitments additionally include the Lombardi Award's support for pediatric cancer research.
Veterans, first responders and public safety organizations are represented through recipients including Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Texas for Heroes, the Texas Fire Fighters Home and Rotary District 5890 Disaster Aid.
Other grants help preserve and strengthen the community through organizations such as Brookwood Community, Keep Katy Beautiful, Katy Heritage Society and Lone Star Symphonic Band.
Together, these organizations serve people at very different stages of life, from children learning to swim and students preparing for their futures to families seeking medical care or assistance putting food on the table.

How Wild West Brewfest Became a Major Fundraiser for Katy Charities
For those who know Wild West Brewfest primarily as a popular Katy beer festival, its charitable purpose is an important part of the event's story.
Organized by the Rotary Club of Katy, the Wild West Brewfest brings together breweries, sponsors, volunteers and attendees for a celebration centered on craft beer, food and community involvement.
Unlike a traditional commercial festival, the event is designed to generate financial support for charitable organizations. Proceeds are directed toward the Rotary Club of Katy's community grant programs, helping fund services and initiatives throughout the area.
Since its inception, Wild West Brewfest has raised more than $1.5 million for local charities, according to the club.
The festival's success depends on participation from across the community. Local businesses provide sponsorships, volunteers contribute their time, breweries participate in the event and attendees support the fundraiser through their purchases.
The Katy Rice Harvest Festival, another longtime community tradition, also contributes to the Rotary Club of Katy's charitable fundraising efforts.
Held in Historic Downtown Katy, the annual festival celebrates the area's agricultural heritage while bringing residents and visitors together for shopping, entertainment, food and family activities.
Although the two festivals offer different experiences, both help turn community participation into financial support for organizations serving Katy residents.
Rotary Club of Katy Has Awarded More Than $664,000 Over Five Years
The latest grants continue a substantial record of local giving.
From the 2021–22 through 2025–26 Rotary years, the Rotary Club of Katy awarded $664,439 to Katy-area causes.
During the 2025–26 Rotary year alone, the club distributed $115,245 through 35 grants, supporting education, healthcare, hunger relief, disaster assistance, youth development and community programs.
Some of the largest commitments included $10,000 for the Katy ISD Education Foundation, $8,970 for Katy ISD FFA programs and $7,500 for Christ Clinic's Dispensary of Hope initiative.
Additional grants supported the Katy Freedom Festival fireworks, Brookwood Community, Relay for Life of Katy, Scouting programs and YMCA water safety education.
The club also provided funding to organizations such as ARTReach, Hope Impacts, Clothed by Faith, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Katy Heritage Society, Texas for Heroes and Katy Responds.
These donations illustrate how the proceeds from community events are distributed among organizations with different missions but a shared connection to the people of Katy.
Including the $73,000 reported for the current Rotary year, the club's cumulative giving since 2021–22 exceeds $737,000.
About the Rotary Club of Katy and Its Commitment to Community Service
The Rotary Club of Katy is a local service organization made up of business professionals, civic leaders and community members who work together on charitable projects and initiatives.
The club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide service organization founded in Chicago in 1905. Rotary clubs bring together people from different professions and backgrounds to address community needs through volunteer service, fundraising and partnerships.
Guided by Rotary's longstanding motto, Service Above Self, the Katy club focuses much of its work on supporting organizations that are already providing essential services throughout the area.
Rather than operating every charitable program itself, the club helps provide resources to established nonprofits, schools and service organizations with the experience and relationships needed to reach people who need assistance.
That approach allows funds raised through events such as Wild West Brewfest to support a variety of causes, from classroom enrichment and children's health to food security and services for veterans.
It also gives residents and local businesses several ways to participate in charitable giving, whether through event sponsorships, volunteer work or simply attending one of the club's fundraisers.
