Dunkin’ Donuts Brews Up New Shop at Walmart on Loop 1604, Bringing Coffee and Convenience to North San Antonio

January 16 2026

A fresh wave of convenience is coming to shoppers at the Walmart Supercenter located at 1515 N Loop 1604 E in San Antonio. Starting February 2026, the store will undergo an interior renovation to welcome a brand-new Dunkin’ Donuts location inside the store, making it easier than ever for residents and visitors in Bexar County to fuel up on their favorite coffee and baked goods.

The remodel, which is expected to be completed by May 28, 2026, carries a construction estimate of $215,000 and will transform part of the Walmart into a fully outfitted Dunkin’ shop. This new location is expected to offer a full menu, serving the brand's signature hot and iced coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, donuts, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches.

This move brings together two beloved brands that have shared space before. In fact, the collaboration between Walmart and Dunkin’ Donuts first began back in 2004, when the companies launched the “store-within-a-store” concept in North Windham, Connecticut. It was seen as a natural fit—both brands serve a customer base that values convenience, speed, and affordability.

“Wal-Mart and Dunkin' Donuts share the same mainstream American customer base,” said Jon Luther, then CEO of Allied Domecq Quick Service Restaurants, in the original 2004 announcement. “We understand the needs of our customers for speed, convenience, and quality whether they are stopping for a coffee or shopping for retail items.”

Dunkin’ Donuts, founded in 1950 in Massachusetts, has grown into one of the most recognizable quick-service restaurant brands in the world. Today, the brand operates more than 11,500 Dunkin’ locations across 40 countries, largely through a franchise-based model. Known for its emphasis on speed, consistency, and accessibility, Dunkin’ has long positioned itself as an everyday stop for coffee and breakfast rather than a specialty café experience.

The San Antonio community can expect the new in-store Dunkin’ to look and feel just like a traditional neighborhood location, with seating available for shoppers and associates to relax, recharge, and enjoy a bite. Many of these Walmart-based Dunkin’ locations also offer enhanced convenience, such as pre-paid ordering at Walmart registers for pickup—though it's not yet confirmed if the San Antonio store will include this feature.

This remodel is just one of many ways national retailers are reshaping the shopping experience by integrating food, coffee, and retail in one stop. For locals in the North San Antonio area—especially along the Loop 1604 corridor—this new addition offers a tasty perk to their Walmart runs.

Whether you're stocking up on groceries, grabbing last-minute essentials, or simply in need of a quick caffeine fix, Dunkin’ at Walmart 1198 is set to deliver just that.
