Live Music, Theater and Art Take Center Stage at Lone Star College-CyFair’s Spring 2026 Season in Cypress
For families in Cypress, Bridgeland, Towne Lake and the greater northwest Houston area searching for live music, choir concerts, art exhibits or theater performances near them, Lone Star College-CyFair’s Spring 2026 season offers something meaningful on nearly every stage.
This March, two signature musical performances anchor the calendar: a culturally rich exploration of Latin-American music followed by a spirited choral celebration designed to uplift audiences. Together, they reflect what many residents value about LSC-CyFair — accessible, high-quality arts programming that strengthens community connection and cultural understanding right here in Cypress, Texas.
Discovery Recital Series Explores Latin-American Musical Identity
The Lone Star College-CyFair Music Department continues its Discovery Recital Series on March 6 with “Melodías de la Herencia: Exploring Nationalism and Western Influences in Latin-American Music,” a 6 p.m. performance in the Recital Hall.
Presented in collaboration with the college’s Latin American Student Organization (LASO), the program examines how composers across Latin America blended Indigenous, Afro-descendant and European traditions to form distinct national musical identities. For many in the Cypress and Houston-area Latino community, the evening offers both cultural reflection and academic insight.
Featured artists include Ecuadorian soprano Andrea Salazar, South Korean pianist Mr. Yong Goo Kim and Ecuadorian vocalist Dr. Wagner Mauricio Pástor, bringing international artistry to a local stage.
“This unique lecture-recital blends the performing arts and academic research that make our campus culture so rich. The audience will be entertained while gaining new global perspectives gleaned from the artists’ doctoral work,” said Dr. Brian Herrington, founding curator of the Discovery Recital Series. “Students enrolled in my Music Literature International Studies course will also participate in a Q&A in preparation for their own lecture-recitals later this semester."
For students and residents alike, the program highlights how Lone Star College-CyFair serves not just as a place of higher education, but as a cultural hub in Cypress — one where scholarship and performance meet in ways that broaden global understanding.

On March 13 at 7:30 p.m., the LSC-CyFair Chamber Singers and Concert Choir take the Main Stage Theater for “Consider It Pure Joy!” — a curated concert designed to inspire and energize.
Conducted by Dr. Paulo Gomes, the performance promises music that speaks directly to the human spirit. Accompanied by pianist Eunae Lee and violinist Mario Zelaya, the program will feature works by Finzi, Elgar, Whitacre, Hagen, Lim and Brahms.
“We have gathered a collection of works that burst with vibrant energy and playful charm, offering heartfelt music that speaks directly to the soul,” said Dr. Paulo Gomes. “Our journey this evening is not just about singing; it’s about feeling the infectious rhythms and soaring harmonies that transcend everyday life.”
