CyLife Church Launches Major Expansion in Cypress as Growing Congregation Looks to 'Make Room' for Future Generations

CyLife Church in Cypress is preparing for a major expansion and renovation project designed to support its rapidly growing congregation, including a new 2,000-seat auditorium, expanded student and children’s ministry spaces, and new community gathering areas aimed at serving families across Northwest Harris County for years to come.

As Cypress continues to rank among the fastest-growing areas in the Houston region, local churches, schools and community organizations are feeling the impact of that growth in real time. For CyLife Church, located at 20611 Tuckerton Rd. in Cypress, that growth has led to overflowing services, packed parking lots and children’s spaces regularly reaching capacity — prompting church leaders to move forward with a large-scale expansion designed to prepare for the future of the community.

Project filings include a 45,187-square-foot addition and remodel to the existing CyLife Church campus. Construction is expected to begin Aug. 3, 2026, with completion projected for Aug. 1, 2028. According to the church’s campaign materials, the overall expansion effort represents a roughly $22 million investment that includes site development, parking expansion and the new worship and discipleship facilities.

Church leaders say the project is about far more than adding square footage.

“Every weekend, people arrive carrying different stories, and week after week, God meets them here,” church leaders shared in campaign materials for the church’s LEGACY initiative. “Lives are being changed, families restored, students discipled, and faith awakened.”

CyLife Church Expansion Designed for Cypress Growth

The expansion project comes as Cypress and surrounding Northwest Houston communities continue experiencing significant residential growth, with new neighborhoods, schools and businesses reshaping the area along the Grand Parkway and FM 529 corridors.

According to CyLife’s planning documents, the church anticipates weekly attendance reaching approximately 4,000 people by 2026, with the expansion increasing long-term capacity to more than 5,000 attendees.

The project’s second phase includes:

  • A new 2,000-seat auditorium
  • Expanded children’s and student ministry spaces
  • Additional discipleship and community gathering areas
  • Continued parking and site improvements

Permit filings indicate the addition will include Type II-B construction with fire suppression and alarm systems, along with a fully fire-separated connection between the existing facility and the new expansion through a two-hour rated assembly.

Church leaders described the project as a response to increasing demand rather than a traditional building campaign.

“Our current spaces are reaching their limits, and this reminds us that God is moving, and people are responding,” Pastor Bob and CyLife leadership wrote in a letter included in the LEGACY campaign packet. “Even with multiple services, we are often full. Kids and students are overflowing.”

From School Cafeteria to Growing Cypress Church

CyLife Church traces its roots back to 2009, when it began as a campus of The MET Church. The church initially met at Hopper Middle School before becoming an independent congregation in 2019.

Church materials describe CyLife as a “disciple-making community” focused on creating spaces for spiritual growth, family support and community connection throughout Cypress.

That focus on community appears throughout the LEGACY campaign materials, which repeatedly frame the expansion as preparation for future generations in Cypress rather than simply a construction project.

“People are coming. People are hungry for Jesus. People are finding hope, freedom, and new life in Him,” the church states in the campaign guide. “And now, we simply want to make room for more.”

The project also builds upon a parking and site expansion initiative launched in 2025, which church leaders say helped relieve one of the campus’s largest logistical challenges.

“Families parked in every corner of the lot, overflowed into the grass, and still, we ran out of space,” the church noted in its materials. “What once felt like a limitation has become a testimony of God’s provision through His people.”

Construction Work Already Underway on Portions of the Site

According to recent project updates shared by the church, several site preparation and utility-related activities have already taken place as work progresses behind the scenes.

Updates included underground utility work by RL Site Worx, construction fence modifications by American Fence and preparation for additional paving and stabilization work once approvals are finalized.

The church also noted that sports field lighting, fencing installations and hydrostatic testing remain pending as additional approvals move forward.

The larger project is privately funded and located on private property for private use.

A Community Investment Beyond Sunday Services

While the expansion centers around worship and ministry space, the project also reflects the broader role churches often play in rapidly growing suburban communities like Cypress — serving as gathering places, support systems and community anchors for families new to the area.

Campaign materials emphasize creating environments where children, students and adults can build relationships and find belonging in a region experiencing continuous population growth.

The church’s vision materials also include personal testimonies from members who say CyLife helped them find community, restore faith and rebuild their lives after difficult seasons. One testimony describes a young adult relocating to Houston and eventually finding connection and purpose through CyLife’s ministry programs.

For many churches across fast-growing suburban Houston communities, projects like this represent more than expansion plans — they reflect how population growth is reshaping the social and spiritual infrastructure of the region alongside roads, schools and commercial development.

And for CyLife Church, leaders say the mission remains centered on preparing space for the next chapter of Cypress families still arriving in the area.

“This campaign is not about pressure or obligation,” church leaders wrote. “It is a moment for our church family to say, ‘Lord, we’re ready for whoever You send next.’”
