Karbachtoberfest 2026 Brings Three Weekends of Bavarian Beer, Food and Wiener Dog Races to Karbach Brewing Co. in Houston
For Houstonians ready to trade the late-summer heat for steins, brats and live music, one of the city’s longtime fall celebrations is preparing to return for three weekends.
Karbachtoberfest 2026 will take over the Karbach Brewing Co. Biergarten Sept. 18-20, Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4. The northwest Houston festival will bring Bavarian-inspired food and beer together with live entertainment, stein-hoisting competitions and the crowd-favorite wiener dog races.
Held at 2032 Karbach St, Houston, TX 77092, the event offers Houston-area residents an Oktoberfest experience closer to home, with activities designed to appeal to craft beer fans as well as families coming for the music, food and dachshund races. Karbach describes its outdoor Biergarten as a family- and dog-friendly gathering space with picnic seating, multiple bars, games and an outdoor stage. As a friendly reminder, children must be supervised, and dogs must remain leashed.
A Houston Brewery With German Brewing Roots
The festival reflects the background of Karbach Brewing Co., which was founded in Houston in 2011 by Ken Goodman, Chuck Robertson and founding brewmaster Eric Warner. The company says its approach combines traditional German brewing techniques with a distinctly Texas identity.
Over the years, the brewery has become known for beers such as Hopadillo IPA, Love Street and Crawford Bock, while its Houston campus has developed into a community gathering place with a production brewery, dining concepts, an outdoor Biergarten and public events throughout the year.
That community role will be especially visible during Karbachtoberfest, which has grown into an annual Houston Oktoberfest tradition since the brewery’s founding year. The celebration gives local residents a chance to experience elements associated with Munich’s Oktoberfest without leaving the Houston area.
Seasonal Karbachtoberfest Märzen Returns
At the center of the festival will be Karbachtoberfest, the brewery’s seasonal Bavarian-style Märzen lager.
The beer is made with Vienna and Munich malts, Hallertau-Mittelfrüh and Tettnanger hops, then cold-fermented and aged for six weeks. It has a 5.5% alcohol-by-volume content and is available from mid-August through October. The beer previously earned a silver medal at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival.
The brewery’s broader beer portfolio will also be available during the event.
“Karbachtoberfest is our favorite time of year at the brewery. We brew our Märzen the traditional Bavarian way, with imported German malts and hops, because we want people to taste real Oktoberfest craftsmanship,” Karbach Brewing Co. General Manager Chris Meyer said. “Every year this festival gets bigger, and that's a testament to Houston's love for great beer and a good time. We can't wait to welcome everyone back to the Biergarten for three more weekends of stein hoisting, wiener dog races and German-inspired festivities.”
What to Expect at Karbachtoberfest 2026
A 40-foot beer tent will help transform the Karbach Biergarten into a Bavarian-inspired festival setting for all three weekends.
The limited-time food menu is expected to include a Karbachtoberfest beer pretzel made by a local bakery partner and a Texas-made beer bratwurst. Festivalgoers will also be able to watch or participate in stein-hoisting contests that test how long competitors can hold a filled stein at arm’s length.
Live music will be scheduled throughout the festival, adding to an atmosphere built around shared tables, food and community gathering.
The wiener dog races will return as more than a playful festival tradition. The races benefit Houston Dachshund Rescue, connecting one of the event’s most popular attractions with an organization serving dogs in need.
Festival glassware will include a collectible 1-liter dimpled stein and a half-liter boot-shaped glass. Organizers have also announced a festival special offering three pints and a custom glass for $25.

The three-weekend schedule gives Houston families and groups several opportunities to attend, rather than limiting the celebration to a single crowded day.
