Dollar Tree to Open New Store on West Parmer Lane in North Austin Summer 2026

January 22 2026

North Austin residents will soon have a new go-to destination for budget-friendly shopping, as Dollar Tree prepares to open a new store at 1801 West Parmer Lane, formerly CVS. According to public filings, renovation work on the existing retail space is slated set to begin on May 18, 2026, with a projected completion date of July 30, 2026. The 14,571-square-foot renovation comes with an estimated investment of $735,544, signaling a solid commitment to expanding retail access in the Parmer Lane corridor.

This newest store—Store #10927—will serve residents in the North Austin and Travis County areas, bringing Dollar Tree’s nationally recognized fixed-price model to an already bustling retail hub.

What Makes Dollar Tree So Popular?

Founded in 1986, Dollar Tree has grown into one of America’s most recognizable discount retail chains. Headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, the company operates more than 16,000 stores across the U.S. and Canada under the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar brands.

The key to Dollar Tree’s widespread appeal lies in its fixed-price strategy—with most items historically priced at $1, though in recent years, select items have increased to $1.25 or slightly more. Despite inflationary pressures, the brand has remained fiercely committed to value pricing, offering everything from household supplies and cleaning products to snacks, greeting cards, seasonal décor, party supplies, toys, and even frozen foods.

In an age of rising costs, shoppers continue to flock to Dollar Tree for its surprising finds and everyday essentials, all at prices that consistently undercut traditional big-box retailers. Additionally, creative consumers and DIY enthusiasts often turn to Dollar Tree for budget-friendly materials they can repurpose into beautiful artisan decorations, unique crafts, and seasonal home décor, fueling a viral online crafting community and adding another layer of popularity to the brand.

Austin’s Dollar Tree Expansion

This new store at 1801 W. Parmer Lane will add to the growing number of Dollar Tree locations across the greater Austin area, serving neighborhoods including Wells Branch, Scofield Farms, and Gracywoods. The North Austin community, known for its blend of families, professionals, and students, is a prime market for the brand’s accessible price points and convenient one-stop shopping experience.

With nearly 15,000 square feet of renovated space, the new Parmer Lane location is expected to feature a refreshed layout that mirrors Dollar Tree’s latest store formats—focusing on improved organization, wider product selection, and a more efficient customer experience.

As construction begins this May, residents can look forward to a mid-summer opening and the convenience of another local destination for budget-savvy shopping.
