Cypress-Based Behemoth Gym Earns 2026 Best of Texas Recognition for Health Club and Personal Training Excellence
A locally owned Cypress gym that has spent nearly 15 years helping residents build healthier lifestyles is earning recognition beyond the community it calls home. Behemoth Gym, founded by the Barto brothers in 2012, has announced its recognition in the 2026 Best of Texas awards for Health Clubs and Personal Trainer Studios, bringing attention to a business built around individualized coaching, accountability and lasting relationships with its members.
Located at 18611 FM 529, Suite 202, just west of Barker Cypress Road, Behemoth Gym serves residents throughout Cypress, including Towne Lake, Bridgeland, Blackhorse Ranch and Coles Crossing. The recognition marks another milestone for a local fitness business that has grown alongside the surrounding community while continuing to refine how it helps people reach their personal health and fitness goals.
Behemoth Gym Recognized in the 2026 Best of Texas Awards
The Best of Texas awards, presented through Guide to Texas, recognize businesses across the state in a variety of industries, including health, fitness, recreation and professional services. Behemoth Gym is highlighting its 2026 recognition in the Health Clubs and Personal Trainer Studios category, placing the Cypress business in the spotlight among Texas fitness providers.
For the Barto brothers and their coaching team, the recognition comes after years of developing an approach that extends beyond traditional gym workouts.
When Behemoth opened in 2012, its founders focused on encouraging members through practical coaching, motivation and accountability. Over time, they realized that the methods they initially relied on did not always address the individual challenges, physical limitations and lifestyle habits that influence long-term fitness.
In a recent reflection shared on social media, the gym acknowledged that simply encouraging clients to keep showing up, combined with generalized workout programming, was not necessarily the most effective way to support every member.
That realization helped shape the personalized coaching model Behemoth uses today.
Nearly 15 Years of Helping Cypress Residents Make Fitness a Lifestyle
Unlike traditional gyms where members often begin exercising independently or join a group class immediately, Behemoth Gym starts every new client with a professional coach in a customized, one-on-one setting.
Each individual undergoes an initial screening and assessment designed to identify personal goals, movement capabilities and areas where additional support may be beneficial.
From there, coaches develop individualized training plans and work with clients to build confidence, improve strength and establish healthier habits.
The gym follows a four-phase process that begins with assessment, progresses into personalized training and includes periodic reassessments before transitioning clients toward greater independence in their fitness routines.
Its philosophy also considers factors beyond exercise, including recovery, mindset, lifestyle and sustainable behavior changes.
As the gym explains on its website, “We believe that true lifestyle change is rooted in more than just exercise alone.”
The approach is intended to help clients make progress both inside and outside the gym, whether they are beginning a fitness routine, returning after an extended break or preparing for a specific athletic goal.
Member Experiences Reflect Behemoth Gym's Commitment to Coaching
Beyond the 2026 Best of Texas recognition, Behemoth Gym points to more than 245 five-star reviews as another reflection of its relationships with clients.
Those reviews frequently highlight personalized attention, knowledgeable coaches and an environment where members feel supported regardless of their fitness experience.
Longtime member Ryan Richards described the gym's commitment to individualized support in a Google review, writing, “They say everything changes, but one thing that doesn’t is the level of dedication you get from the coaches.”
Other members have shared experiences ranging from improving everyday strength and mobility to preparing for athletic challenges.
Andrew Ostensen, who is training for his first Chevron Houston Marathon in January 2027, credited Coach Aja with developing a strength training program to complement his running goals.
Another member, Alesa Bobinger, described feeling welcomed during two drop-in classes, noting that coaches provided individual attention and encouraged participants throughout their workouts.
The coaching team, which includes Aja, Aryan, Leah and Jared, specializes in personalized training and small group fitness, with an emphasis on helping clients develop skills they can continue using independently.
Local Recognition Highlights a Cypress Business's Longstanding Community Roots

What began in 2012 as a way for the Barto brothers to share their passion for fitness has grown into a business serving clients from across Cypress and northwest Houston.
As the gym approaches its 15th anniversary in 2027, its 2026 Best of Texas recognition gives the team another reason to celebrate, alongside the members and local families who have been part of its journey.
