Cy-Fair ISD Expands Early Education Access with Launch Tuition-Based Pre-K Program in 2025-2026

January 27 2025

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (CFISD) is set to launch a tuition-based pre-kindergarten program in the 2025-26 school year, expanding its early childhood education offerings to serve more families in the community. This new program is approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and aims to provide access to high-quality pre-K education for children who do not meet the state’s eligibility requirements for free pre-K.

Research consistently highlights the benefits of full-day pre-K programs in fostering foundational development in young children, often leading to better academic performance, higher high school graduation rates, and increased college attendance. Recognizing these benefits, CFISD has designed its tuition-based pre-K program to align with the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines. The curriculum focuses on ten developmental domains, including social-emotional growth, language and communication, emergent literacy, math, science, fine arts, physical development, and technology.

Program Details

The tuition-based pre-K program will be available to children who are 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025. Monthly tuition is set at $650 for residents and non-residents, with a reduced rate of $600 for CFISD employees. A one-time $50 registration fee will also apply to all participants.

While CFISD’s existing qualified pre-K program will remain free for families who meet the state’s income eligibility guidelines—such as an annual household income of $57,720 or less for a family of four in the 2024-25 school year—the tuition-based option ensures families outside these requirements can still access early education within the district.

The program will be offered at all CFISD elementary campuses, space permitting. If a student’s home campus reaches capacity, parents will have the option to enroll their child at another campus with available space. Each classroom will be led by a teacher alongside a paraprofessional.

Transportation and Parent Agreements

Transportation will only be provided for pre-K students attending their zoned campus if they meet the district’s transportation guidelines. Students attending pre-K at an alternate campus will not be eligible for transportation services.

Parents enrolling their children in the tuition-based program will need to sign a parental agreement outlining key policies, such as attendance expectations, hours of operation, late pickup policies, and payment requirements.
