College-Bound? Mission Bend Library Offers Free College Prep Workshops for Students & Families

October 23 2025

This fall, the Fort Bend County Libraries’ Mission Bend Branch is offering a valuable resource for students and families navigating the college admissions process. Through its “S.T.E.P. Into College” workshop series, the library is providing free, accessible guidance on everything from applications to planning for life after high school — and all are welcome.

Residents of Lakemont are invited to attend the upcoming session, “E: Engage After Applying,” on Saturday, November 15, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Mission Bend Branch Library, located at 8421 Addicks Clodine Road, in northeast Fort Bend County.

Led by William Keaton, Director of College Readiness at YES Prep Public Schools, this session will walk attendees through the often-uncertain time after college applications have been submitted. From understanding communications from colleges to knowing what steps to take while waiting for acceptance letters, this workshop is designed to keep students and parents informed and empowered.

This series isn’t just for high school seniors — it’s also open to students returning to college after a break, parents looking for clarity in the process, and anyone planning their next educational steps.

The final session of the series, “P: Plan for What’s Next,” will take place on Saturday, December 13, rounding out the program with a look ahead to future decisions and possibilities.

The “S.T.E.P. Into College” workshops are free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. To register, visit the library’s website at fortbend.lib.tx.us, click on “Classes & Events,” choose “Mission Bend Branch Library,” and find the event listing. You can also register by calling 832-471-5900, or by stopping by the Adult Reference Desk at the library.

Whether you’re starting your college journey or supporting someone who is, the Mission Bend Branch Library is here to help make the path clearer — one step at a time.
