City of Jarrell Issues Warning About Impersonators Claiming to Be Officials
In an effort to safeguard public trust and transparency, the City of Jarrell has issued a public warning about individuals falsely posing as city officials. The alert follows recent reports involving unauthorized persons distributing business cards bearing the official City of Jarrell logo, branding elements, and even what appeared to be an official city email address—despite having no current role within the city government.
City leaders emphasize that only those elected to the City Council, appointed to official boards or commissions, or formally employed by the City of Jarrell are authorized to represent themselves as city officials or employees. Here's what Canyon Ranch residents need to know.
Understanding the Law: Impersonating Public Officials is a Crime
Under Texas criminal law, it is illegal for any person to:
- Impersonate a public servant with the intent to mislead or induce others to rely on false authority, or
- Knowingly claim or perform duties of a public office without legal authority.
These violations may include the use of official city titles, logos, or government contact information in any misleading or unauthorized manner. The law exists to prevent confusion, protect the public, and preserve the integrity of local government.
Who Are Your Current Jarrell City Officials?
To eliminate confusion, the City of Jarrell has published the current list of elected leaders, which includes:
- Mayor Patrick Sherek
- Mayor Pro Tempore & Councilmember Daniel Klepac
- Councilmember Lori Allen
- Councilmember Tanya Clawson
- Council Place #4 - Drew Sumner
- Councilmember Daniel Islas
These individuals are the only ones authorized to conduct city business or speak on behalf of the City in an official capacity.
