City of Fulshear Develops Updated Drought Contingency Plan for Water Conservation

May 02 2024

According to a recent updated posted by the City of Fulshear, a draft update to the City of Fulshear Drought Contingency Plan was recently presented to the city council on April 16, 2024. Per officials, the purpose of this plan is to conserve water supply during times of drought, water shortage, or emergency, ensuring that essential needs such as domestic water use, sanitation, and fire protection are met. Additionally, the plan aims to protect public health, welfare, and safety, minimize the adverse impacts of water shortages, and comply with regulations set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and other agencies.

The draft Drought Contingency Plan is available for public review here, while the presentation made to the city council can be accessed here. The City plans to present a final version of the plan at the regular city council meeting scheduled for May 21, 2024. This final version will incorporate feedback from council members and the public, ensuring that the Drought Contingency Plan effectively addresses the city's water management needs.

With water conservation becoming increasingly important, especially in regions prone to drought, the City of Fulshear's proactive approach to drafting and updating its Drought Contingency Plan is commendable. By implementing measures to conserve water and mitigate the impacts of water shortages, Fulshear is taking significant steps to ensure the sustainability of its water resources for future generations.
