City of Fulshear City Council Appoints New City Manager

August 20 2024

The City Council of Fulshear has unanimously approved the appointment of Zach Goodlander as the new City Manager. The decision was made after a thorough search and evaluation process carried out by both the City Council and Baker Tilly, an executive search firm. The announcement was made during a regular city council meeting held on August 20, 2024.

Mayor Don McCoy, in his statement, expressed the city’s excitement about the new appointment. "Congratulations to Zach Goodlander on becoming our new City Manager of Fulshear, Texas! We’re thrilled to welcome such a smart and innovative leader and we can’t wait to see the incredible impact he will have as he helps our city move forward into the future," said Mayor McCoy.

Goodlander's career in municipal service began as an intern with the City of Huntsville, Texas, during his time at Sam Houston State University, where he was also a member of the Track and Cross Country teams. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration. Goodlander has served in various capacities within the cities of Willis and Venus, Texas, before joining the City of Fulshear as Director of Planning in February 2019.

In November 2022, Goodlander was promoted to the position of Assistant City Manager, and in February 2024, he became the Acting City Manager. He is affiliated with the Texas City Management Association (TCMA), American Association of Municipal Executives (AAME), and International City Management Association (ICMA).

Upon accepting his role as City Manager, Goodlander said, “I look forward to continuing to serve my Fulshear community in this role and to work to bring Council’s and the community’s goals to fruition.”

Goodlander, a resident of Fulshear since 2019, lives here with his wife and children. An introductory event will be scheduled for the community, allowing residents to meet and interact with Goodlander. Further details will be shared soon.

Zach Goodlander can be reached via City Hall at 281-346-1796 ext. 1102, or via email at zgoodlander@fulsheartexas.gov
