CFISD Names New Principal for Labay Middle School
Dr. Krystal Love-Hoyer, director of instruction at Cypress Creek High School, was named the principal of Labay Middle School on June 25. Dr. Love-Hoyer replaces Dr. Michael Contreras, who was named principal of Cypress Park High School on May 24.
Dr. Love-Hoyer has 21 years of experience in education, all of which have been in CFISD. She began her career as an English teacher at Cy-Fair High School in 2002 and later transferred to Cypress Ranch High School in 2008 where she served in the same role for six years. She became a campus instructional coach at Cypress Ranch in 2014 before being named director of instruction helping teacher at Labay in 2016.
Dr. Love-Hoyer became an assistant principal at Labay in 2019 and served for one year before being named director of instruction in 2020. She was named to her current role as director of instruction at Cypress Creek in 2023. In 2022 and 2023 she served as summer math and reading camp principal at Labay and currently serves as summer school principal at Cypress Creek.
Dr. Love-Hoyer earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.
“I am thrilled and honored to be returning home to my Eagle family to serve a community I love,” Dr. Love-Hoyer said. “I look forward to learning and growing together as we continue soaring with the longstanding tradition of excellence at Labay Middle School. Once and Eagle, always an Eagle!”
