CFISD Launches Summer Mobile Library to Foster Literacy and Lifelong Love of Reading
The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) has launched its Mobile Library service this summer, an innovative initiative designed to foster literacy and love for reading among students.
This unique service offers a traveling library housed in a bus that regularly visits selected locations within the district. Pre-arranged stops include various locations across the Cy-Fair community where students can engage with an assortment of books. The CFISD Mobile Library enables students to check out books, acquire free books for their personal libraries, enjoy a snack, and occasionally listen to books narrated aloud.
This initiative is spearheaded by a group of trained library staff who assist students with book selections, inquiries, and the check-out process. The CFISD Mobile Library is more than just a repository of books on wheels. It's a hub for fostering literacy, encouraging reading for pleasure, and building a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
Here’s the list of stops for the CFISD Mobile Library this summer:
Reading over the summer has been highlighted by the National Education Association as an essential component that aids in learning retention. Research shows that students who continue reading during the summer break have a significant academic advantage as they are likely to enhance their reading skills and outperform their peers who do not read over the summer.
The CFISD Mobile Library is more than just a summer initiative. It is a commitment to students' continuous learning and their future success as CFISD aspires to create a community of passionate readers and lifelong learners.
