Celebrate Spring at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts
Spring is in full bloom at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts! Located at 6815 Cypresswood Drive in Spring, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is the only Fine Arts museum in Harris County outside the city center of Houston, offering direct, first-hand access to original works of art, as well as outstanding educational and public programming - all free of charge.
Spring Exhibitions
The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is delighted to present two new exhibitions this spring, which continue through May 12, 2024.
In the Rebecca Cole Gallery, the Pearl showcases the collection of Vivian Kromer in “Cobalt Dreams: Unveiling the Beauty of Flow Blue.” The general time period of collectible flow blue spans from the 1820s to the 1920s. This exhibition, designed as if guests are stepping into the dining room of a welcoming home, encourages visitors to look beyond the function of these exquisite pieces to discover the artistry in each one.
The Main Gallery features “Post-Impressionism Exploration,” with art from a Houston-area collector as well as five paintings gifted to the Pearl from the estate of Louis E. Magne and the Martin Family. In France’s late 19th-century artistic landscape, the radical movements of Impressionism and its subsequent evolution into Post-Impressionism marked a profound departure from traditional artistic norms. Join the Pearl in exploring the work of this era, which challenged the very essence of artistic expression.
2024 Pearls of Art Gala: Honoring Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital
The 2024 Pearls of Art Gala will take place Saturday, April 6, 2024, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. Centered around a theme of “The Art of Restoration: Healing in the Garden of Arts,” the event honors Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.
Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital believes in the transformative power of art in healing and recovery. The hospital incorporates art, both performing and visual, through various initiatives across the continuum of care.
Music therapy has been a mission of the Center for Performing Arts Medicine since 2014, and has expanded to become an important offering for patients in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Creating art to help with the healing process has also been a part of Houston Methodist Willowbrook’s cancer program. Through collaborative initiatives such as Arts for Healing, a pilot program launched in partnership with the Pearl, the hospital has harnessed the therapeutic potential of art to provide solace and comfort to those affected by the challenges of our time.
The Pearls of Art Gala includes a silent auction, live auction, dinner, and dancing, with all proceeds benefiting the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. This year’s gala is chaired by Barbara Schlattman and Traci Klein.
Teen Night and Teen Art Exhibition
The Pearl Fincher Youth Art Council is proud to present an exhibition of teen art: “Melting Pot: An Exploration of Houston Identity.” Teens throughout the Houston area were invited to submit work that shows what makes Houston, Houston. Artists explored their heritage, illustrated the contemporary, or dove into history, capturing their personal identity in the process. The exhibition will be on display at the Pearl during the month of March.

Floral Event and Guest Lecture
The Pearl will host two special events on Saturday, March 16.
The Society for the Advancement of Floral Design will offer a lecture and demonstration, using the museum’s current exhibitions as inspiration for their arrangements. The public is invited, and admission is free.
In addition, artist Caroline Roberts will give a guest lecture titled, “Rooted in Rock: Photographic Process Art.” As part of Houston’s 2024 Fotofest Biennial, Caroline will have a pop-up exhibit in the Pearl’s Hillery Community Gallery beginning March 1.
Caroline’s alternative photographic processes of lumen and cyanotype printing create unpredictable impressions inspired by the natural landscape. Working with elements that make up the earth itself—acids, bases, water and salts—she captures the essence of her geologic subject matter.
Pearl Book Club: March 23
The next gathering of the Pearl Book Club will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 for tea, coffee, and conversation to discuss, “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde. Monthly book selections are inspired by the museum’s current art exhibitions.
