Castroville Public Library Brings February to Life with Events, Classes, and Community Support

Located in the heart of historic Castroville, the Castroville Public Library continues to live out its mission of promoting lifelong learning, cultural enrichment, and community connection with a robust lineup of February events and services for Medina County residents.

Whether you're looking for free family-friendly events in Castroville, quiet space to write, or creative programs for teens and adults, the library’s February 2026 calendar is packed with something for everyone — all happening at 802 London Street, just steps from downtown Castroville.

Weekly Programs Bring Locals Together

Community is at the core of the Castroville Public Library, and that spirit is reflected in its recurring weekly programs:

  • Monday Mornings, 10 AM – 12 PM: Stitch Group welcomes anyone with a crochet, knit, quilt, or craft project. It’s informal, social, and a great place to swap ideas and encouragement.

  • Tuesdays at 10 AM: Senior Bingo, Trivia & Stretching provides a fun and healthy way for local seniors to stay engaged (space is limited, sign-up required).

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11 AM: Toddler Story Times with Erin (Tuesdays) and Crissi (Wednesdays) bring smiles and early literacy skills to little ones.

  • Thursdays from 2 PM – 4 PM: The Word Wrangler Writers Group offers a welcoming environment for writers to share and grow their craft.

Special Events Throughout February

February brings a variety of special events, workshops, and enrichment opportunities to the library. Most programs are free but require advance registration due to limited space:

  • February 2: Daybreak Book Group at 10:30 AM and Nightfall Book Group at 6:30 PM.

  • February 7: Join Ren Trapino for Origami Hearts and meet local author Mark Trapino for a special book signing.

  • February 9: Tween/Teen Art Time with Maggie focuses on candy heart art from 3–4 PM (ages 14+).

  • February 13: Celebrate community at the Love Your Library Silent Auction from 6–9 PM, a fundraiser hosted by the Friends of the Library.

  • February 14: Paint-a-Tote Bag craft session for ages 14+.

  • February 19: Two creative events — Rock Painting from 10–11:30 AM and Teen Writers Group from 5–6 PM.

  • February 21: Financial Wellness Class with Castroville State Bank at 10:30 AM.

  • February 26: Introduction to Genealogy with the Landmark Inn, 6–7 PM.

  • February 28: Learn branding basics at Navigating Canva for Your Business with Maggie from 10–11 AM.

Gamers take note — Magic the Gathering with Evan from Magnolia’s returns for ages 14+ on select evenings, 5:30–8:00 PM. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

The library will be closed on Monday, February 16 in observance of Presidents Day.

Services Beyond the Books

More than just events, the Castroville Public Library is deeply committed to meeting the evolving needs of the community.

  • Need help finding a job? The library has partnered with Workforce Solutions to support local employment needs. Contact Beth Farley at beth.farley@castrovilletx.gov to learn more.

  • Struggling with food access? The Grab & Go Pantry at the library offers discreet, no-questions-asked food support for those in need.

  • Need a notary? Notary services are available Fridays from 9 AM–4 PM (call ahead for scheduling).
