Bridgeland Senior Honored with Statewide Celebrate Texas Public Schools Scholarship

November 17 2025

Bridgeland High School senior Linley Adams has been awarded the prestigious Celebrate Texas Public Schools scholarship by Friends of Texas Public Schools (FOTPS), marking a proud moment for the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD community.

The $2,500 scholarship, presented at the annual Friend of the Year Dinner held November 12 at McLane Stadium in Waco, celebrates the achievements of graduating seniors who exemplify the strengths and impact of public education in Texas. The event—attended by educators, advocates, and community leaders—highlighted stories of student success as a powerful reminder of the value of public schools across the state.

Adams, a standout student and leader at Bridgeland, earned the scholarship after submitting a heartfelt video showcasing how public school education has shaped her path, influenced her goals, and prepared her for future success. The scholarship, made possible through a partnership with the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) and We Go Public, was designed to recognize those who can best speak to the theme “Great Things Happening in Texas Public Schools.”

Adams, who currently ranks 41st in her senior class with an impressive 6.75 GPA, serves as drum major for Bridgeland High School’s acclaimed marching band—leading more than 300 band members and 75 color guard students over the past two years. Her commitment to excellence continues outside the band hall as an active member of the National Honor Society, Science NHS, and Math NHS.

“What a privilege and honor it was to be able to accept the Celebrate Texas Public Schools scholarship,” Adams shared. “I am so thankful for the opportunities Bridgeland High School has given me to succeed, and am proud to represent Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.”

Friends of Texas Public Schools, the organization behind the award, was established to promote the success stories of Texas public schools and to counter the frequent criticism they face. Through programs like this scholarship, FOTPS uplifts the voices of students, educators, and communities, reminding the public of the transformational work being done in classrooms every day.

The scholarship not only honors Adams’ individual accomplishments, but also reflects the strong support system provided by Bridgeland High School and CFISD—an environment where students are encouraged to lead, learn, and lift others along the way.

For families across Cypress and Bridgeland searching for inspiring success stories in local education, Linley Adams’ recognition stands as a reminder of the potential cultivated in Texas public schools—and the bright futures being built every day in our own backyard.
