An Open Letter from KCM's Executive Director

November 07 2022

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and as we near the Holiday season, I want to express my most sincere gratitude for sharing of your talent, time and treasure, serving selflessly and responding to where you have been called to serve or give.

Because of your generosity, we continue to fulfill our mission of transforming lives, one family at a time. There is absolute joy in all that we are doing because regardless of the journey we are in, we always rely on hope, compassion, and faith! The labor of love continues and yes, the needs in our community are endless.

As a growing number of families are facing evictions, experiencing high level of stress due to the financial strain in their households, our focus remains to empower them in meaningful ways. Homelessness is being prevented through our Housing Stability Program, utilizing a strengths-based approach and on-going case management services. Food insecurity is on a rise, and yes, hunger affects everyone- from the youngest to the elderly. However, we remain thankful to our loving community for the support through food drives or individuals giving from their hearts. The Sow A Seed, Feed A Family Community Garden and the Garden of Grace are a blessing to the many families assisted by our Food Pantry as we tackle hunger together. Last but not least, our Crisis Center remains committed and readily available to respond to the trauma effects while working steadfast with victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, including victims of human trafficking.

It is no surprise that from January through September 2022, our programs have assisted over 12,000 unduplicated households. Therefore, our approach to enhance funding opportunities like the 1st Annual Children’s Fishing Tournament, happening on November 12, 2022, is to be equipped with the resources needed to provide the assessments, interventions, counseling, as well as tangible services such as food and financial assistance for families in need. Let’s not forget, the Holiday season is around the corner and we can’t wait to provide turkeys/hams along with other food items so that families can also smile as they gather around the table with their loved ones. I invite you to give from your heart and let’s continue to make a greater impact together!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, with the same hope, compassion, and faith to help our neighbors in need.

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
