American Legion Auxiliary in Katy Seeking School Supplies Donations for Local Children

American Legion Auxiliary in Katy Seeking School Supplies Donations for Local Children

July 13 2023

The start of the new school year is just around the corner. As families across the Katy area are already beginning to shop for school supplies, many children whose families are struggling are worried if they will get the supplies they need to be prepared for the first day of school.

That's why the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 164 has worked alongside the American Legion Post 164 over the last several years to help bridge the gap. The ALA provides backpacks to area students who are in need, thanks to generous donations of school supplies from residents and businesses in the Katy area. This year, the ALA is requesting solid colored backpacks containing folders, composition notebooks, earbuds, pencil boxes with pencils, pink erasers, markers, crayons, black dry erase markers and facial tissues.

Two donation drop-off events will take place before the start of the school year to collect supplies for distribution.
  • July 19 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at WMCA Clubhouse (located at 22415 Kingsland Boulevard in Katy)
  • August 5 from 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM at Katy Elk's Lodge (located at 1050 Katy Fort Bend Road in Katy)
    • Enjoy breakfast with local veterans during this event!

If you would like to help, you are welcome to attend one of these drop-off events to bring your supplies donation. You are also invited to contact the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 164 to make arrangements to pick up donations from you by emailing or
