2026 Ford Holiday River Parade Tickets Now on Sale for San Antonio River Walk Celebration
For generations of San Antonio families, the Friday after Thanksgiving has marked more than the beginning of holiday shopping. It has been a night to gather beside the river, watch decorated floats glide through downtown and see The San Antonio River Walk’s holiday lights come alive.
That tradition returns Friday, Nov. 27, 2026, when the 45th Annual Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony launches the Christmas season in San Antonio. Tickets are now on sale for the popular downtown event, which will feature 27 illuminated floats, five entertainment floats and more than 200,000 holiday lights.
The parade and lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. A live broadcast is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. from the Arneson River Theatre.
“Holiday Wishes Come True” Along the San Antonio River Walk
The theme of the 2026 Ford Holiday River Parade is “Holiday Wishes Come True,” with Santa and Mrs. Claus returning to help welcome the season.
The Witte Museum will serve as grand marshal as the San Antonio institution celebrates its 100th birthday. Its role connects two longtime local traditions: a museum that has helped generations of families explore science, nature, history and culture, and a parade that has become part of the city’s holiday identity.
For residents, the evening offers a chance to make memories in one of San Antonio’s most recognizable settings. Families can watch themed floats pass beneath downtown bridges, hear live music along the parade route and experience the countdown to the River Walk lighting ceremony.
The lights will continue glowing from sundown to sunrise through early January, giving residents and visitors additional opportunities to enjoy Christmas lights in downtown San Antonio after parade night. The official River Walk calendar describes the parade as San Antonio’s kickoff to the holiday season.
Ford Holiday River Parade Tickets and Dinner Packages
Tickets for the 2026 Ford Holiday River Parade are available online. Organizers emphasize that all ticket sales are nonrefundable and tickets may not be exchanged.
Children age 2 and older must have a ticket for reserved seating.
Many restaurants along the San Antonio River Walk also offer dinner and parade ticket packages. These options allow guests to pair their parade experience with a meal and, depending on the restaurant package, seating or viewing access near the river. Availability, menus, prices and package terms are set by the individual restaurants, so guests should review the details before purchasing.
Those interested in group tickets or hosting a private viewing party may contact event representative Melisa Sanchez. Prospective vendors along the parade route may contact Makayla Robles.
Free Ford Holiday River Parade Viewing Area
A limited free viewing area will be available on the east side of the River Walk between Pecan Street and Richmond Avenue.
The space will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and attendees should bring their own chairs. Families choosing the free viewing area may want to arrive early because space is not guaranteed.
The free section provides an option for residents searching for affordable or free holiday events in San Antonio, particularly families who want to experience the parade without purchasing reserved seats.
What Families Should Know Before Attending
Because the Ford Holiday River Parade draws large crowds to the downtown River Walk, attendees should review event restrictions before leaving home.
Strollers, ice chests and carriers will not be allowed on the River Walk during the event. Parents of young children should plan accordingly, especially if they expect to walk from a downtown parking location or spend several hours along the parade route.
Guests should also allow extra time for parking, walking and finding their assigned seating area. Reviewing the current parade route and downtown accessibility maps before arriving may make the evening easier for families, older adults and visitors unfamiliar with the River Walk.
ADA Seating Available Along the Parade Route
ADA tickets are available in designated sections throughout the Ford Holiday River Parade route, including:
- Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, Section A18

Visitors who need accessible seating should confirm availability when purchasing tickets and review downtown accessibility information before parade day. The official River Walk website also provides maps and planning resources for guests navigating downtown San Antonio.
Volunteers Invited to Help Bring the Parade to Life
Community members who want to experience the Ford Holiday River Parade from a different perspective may also apply to volunteer.
Volunteers help support the behind-the-scenes work required to welcome spectators, coordinate activity along the route and bring one of San Antonio’s best-known Christmas traditions to life.
For longtime residents, volunteering can be a meaningful way to participate in an event they may have attended since childhood. For newer San Antonians, it can offer an opportunity to meet people and become part of a tradition that reflects the city’s welcoming, celebratory character.
What Happens Next
Families considering reserved seating, restaurant dinner packages or ADA accommodations are encouraged to make plans early. Popular viewing areas and dining options may become limited as Thanksgiving approaches.
Attendees should also check the official 2026 Ford Holiday River Parade information before the event for any updates involving the route, entry procedures, parking, weather or broadcast schedule.
When the floats begin moving and the River Walk lights switch on Nov. 27, the celebration will once again connect families across San Antonio through a tradition that feels both grand and personal. Some residents will be attending for the first time. Others will return with children or grandchildren, continuing a holiday ritual that has become part of the story of the city itself.
