Williamsburg Settlement Names August 2026 Yard of the Month Winner
It’s August, and we have to ask, are your yards thriving in this hot summer sun? A yard, belonging to Marilyn Keichian of 1710 Palace Green Court, has caught the eye of a neighbor and was nominated for this month’s Williamsburg Settlement YOTM!
Ms. Keichian traveled from England in the ‘70s with the intention of only staying a year, but fell in love with Corpus Christi and made Texas her permanent home. Since then, Marilyn moved to Houston, had 2 children, and is now a retired nurse from St. Luke’s Hospital.
Approximately 10 years ago after she retired, her realtor introduced her to the established neighborhood known as the Williamsburg Settlement, with its cul-de-sacs and unique variety of homes. Like many of us who live here now, the mature trees around the neighborhood sealed the deal.

As one of a handful of homeowners who usually mows and edges, however Ms. Keichian recently had cataract surgery and had to hire the Teen Yard Crew for the summer to maintain her lawn; the yard crew are “at least partly responsible for the nomination” since they have done an “outstanding job”. In addition, she hires Jerry Arnold “at least once a year to weed and apply fresh mulch”, and to plant some items for her.
When asked to describe her yard, Marilyn immediately describes it as eclectic. She attributes it to her English roots, where cottage gardens are very popular. The cottage garden look incorporates densely arranged plants that suppress weeds, with greenery and flowers of different heights that bloom throughout the year. Marilyn’s favorite are the caladium bulbs, which she purchases from Caladium bulbs 4 less in Florida!
Please join us in congratulating our neighbor for her beautiful front yard in the Williamsburg Settlement and for being August’s YOTM nominee!
