Chris and Shannon Henderson Earn Williamsburg Settlement’s October Yard of the Month Honor

October 01 2026

A beautiful yard can tell you something about the people who tend it—and what they love about the place they call home. For Chris and Shannon Henderson, Williamsburg Settlement’s mature trees, generous lots and colonial-style homes are part of that connection. Their own landscape has now earned the neighborhood’s October 2026 Yard of the Month honor.

At 22114 Wetherburn Lane, colorful annuals brighten a yard framed by established trees and layers of greenery. A neatly maintained lawn ties the planting areas together, creating the welcoming setting recognized this month.

A Familiar Hand in Settlement Landscapes

For Chris, caring for outdoor spaces is also a longtime profession. He has owned Lawn Solutions for 33 years and helps maintain lawns and trees at several homes in the Settlement.

That work includes the Rodriguez residence, which earned the neighborhood’s Yard of the Month honor in July 2023. This October, the recognition has come to the Hendersons’ own address, where seasonal flowers share the landscape with the trees and greenery that give it structure.

A Favorite Plant—and Appreciation for Neighbors

When asked to recommend a front-yard plant, the Hendersons chose dwarf yaupon holly. They appreciate that it is easy to shape and does not require frequent trimming, qualities they value in keeping a landscape looking cared for.

Their appreciation for Williamsburg Settlement extends beyond its yards. The couple also expressed thanks to the neighborhood’s volunteers and the time and effort those residents devote to the community.

Congratulations to Chris and Shannon on this month’s recognition. Their home adds another example of the personal care that makes a neighborhood’s familiar streets feel like home.
