When you drive south on Calveryman Lane in Williamsburg Settlement, you reach a stop sign at its intersection with Bucktrout Lane; across the street from this sign is the well-kept yard at 22463 Bucktrout, owned by Amanda and Jeremy Beaty and their 3 children, who are our pick for June's Yard of the Month.

The Beatys have lived in the Settlement for five and a half years and truly appreciate the unique houses and mature trees in the community. Amanda loves to see the plethora of walkers and friendly neighbors, especially because she is one herself! The low crime rate in the Settlement and the convenient location to everything (including 99 and I10) are a few of the many reasons why they chose this neighborhood.

Over the past years, the Beatys have slowly made changes to their house and have modernized the curb appeal. When asked to describe their front yard, which they maintain all by themselves, Amanda says it's "a work in progress. We've slowly been adding and removing from the front. The plan is to do a complete overhaul on it this summer. Currently, it's low maintenance, which we'll try to keep, just with more color."

With cannas and other reliable plants for our Texas weather, there are specks of yellow and red flowers throughout their front flower bed now; as well as an eye-catching planter at the end of their front walk path with yellow African irises. Although not a lover or rose bushes, Amanda does suggest Knockout roses since they are extremely hardy and resilient. Knockouts are consistent producers of flowers and are very reliable bloomers in the garden.

Fun fact, Jeremy used to own the CrossFit gym, (where Amanda and Jeremy first met) just outside the neighborhood. Jeremy is a fitness coach, and an EDM (primarily) DJ. Amanda works from home for an underground water utility company and is a pro-bodybuilder in the Women's Figure division.
