June 2025 Yard of the Month Winner

Pat and Abi Bosley of 1635 Earl of Dunmore

June’s Yard of the Month winners are Pat and Abi Bosley of 1635 Earl of Dunmore. The Bosley’s have called Williamsburg Settlement home for nine years. Abi and her husband, Pat, moved in as twenty-year-old newlyweds with their dog, Bear, and a big dream to fix up their first home. Over the years, their family grew to include a second dog, Murphy, their sweet daughter named Winnie, and YAY a baby boy on the way in July! Though they never expected to stay in their first home this long, Abi says, “when we think about moving we always find a reason to stay.” The couple fell in love with the neighborhood’s charm and its abundance of trees, which reminded them of their roots in small town East Texas.

Abi and Pat have done most of their landscaping themselves, learning through experience what can handle the “brutal afternoon sun.” She notes they’ve “redone our front beds at least six times” in search of plants that could survive the Texas heat, ultimately settling on drought and heat-resistant favorites like Texas Sage and Lantana. These plants, Abi says, “are so resistant to the harsh Texas summer heat” and “stay green during the winter months.” For weekly maintenance, the Bosleys have relied on Tony Portillo, who “does a great job” and also services many of their neighbors’ yards.

Their front yard is a testament to persistence and practicality, featuring “lots of color and texture” while prioritizing “low-maintenance” choices. For Abi and Pat, their yard—and their home—are more than just a project; they’re the foundation of a life filled with growth, memories, and a strong connection to their community!
