Whataburger Joins Texas Heritage Marketplace Lineup in Katy, Bringing Iconic Texas Flavor to Westward Growth Corridor
Whataburger—an iconic Texas-based burger chain known for its bold flavors, freshly made burgers, and signature orange-and-white striped restaurants—will soon make its home at the $400 million Texas Heritage Marketplace in Katy. A permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation confirms construction is slated to begin at 924 Texas Heritage Parkway in late September 2025, with completion anticipated by late January 2026.
A Texas Favorite Expands in Katy
The forthcoming 3,335-square-foot Whataburger will feature both sit-down dining and drive-thru service, bringing the chain’s hallmark menu of made-to-order burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, salads, and 24/7 breakfast favorites. For decades, Whataburger has built a loyal following by staying true to its promise of fresh ingredients and customizable burgers—whether it’s the fan-favorite Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit or its spicy Jalapeño & Cheese Whataburger.
This addition will join Whataburger’s already strong presence in the Katy area, where nearby locations along Grand Parkway near LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, FM 1093 near Cross Creek Ranch and Westheimer Lakes, and I-10 near Katy Mills routinely draw steady crowds. Its inclusion in Texas Heritage Marketplace reflects the project’s focus on blending local favorites with national dining and retail experiences.

Texas Heritage Marketplace: A $400 Million Community Destination
The Texas Heritage Marketplace, developed by Houston-based NewQuest Properties, broke ground in early 2025 with a vision of becoming Katy’s next great destination for retail, dining, medical, and residential needs. Strategically located at Interstate 10 and the Texas Heritage Parkway, the 165-acre, master-planned development will include:
- 750,000 square feet of retail and dining space
- 550 apartment units across two residential communities
- Nearly 300,000 square feet of medical office and self-storage space
The project emphasizes walkability and community connection, anchored by a relocated Heritage oak tree that serves as the centerpiece of the development.

Serving a Booming Katy Market
