Westheimer Lakes Community Gears Up for Spring Garage Sale & Shred Day on March 14

Westheimer Lakes Community Gears Up for Spring Garage Sale & Shred Day on March 14

January 29 2026

It’s almost time to clean out the closets, make room in the garage, and let go of those no-longer-needed items—Westheimer Lakes’ Spring Community-Wide Garage Sale and Shred Day is right around the corner. Residents are invited to participate in this much-anticipated neighborhood event on Saturday, March 14, with garage sales taking place in the morning and a document shredding service available in the afternoon.

This twice-yearly tradition offers a fantastic opportunity for residents to give their gently used items a second life while connecting with neighbors and shoppers from all across the Katy and Fulshear area. Whether you’re planning to sell, shop, or shred, this day is all about reducing clutter and building community spirit.

How to Participate in the Westheimer Lakes Garage Sale

Residents planning to host a sale are encouraged to register online in advance using this Google Form: Garage Sale Registration Form

A digital map of all participating homes will be published at Garage Sale Map, helping to guide bargain hunters straight to your doorstep. Registration closes Friday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m., and no additions will be made afterward, so be sure to sign up early.

To help increase visibility and foot traffic, homeowners may place signs at the end of their street—but please remember to take them down at the conclusion of the event.

Pro Tips for a Successful Garage Sale

Local organizing experts offer a few helpful tips to ensure a smooth and profitable experience:

  • Start Early: Early birds really do get the deals. Set up before 8 a.m. to catch the first wave of eager shoppers.
  • Price Clearly & Fairly: Use bright stickers or signs to mark prices. Bundle similar items to offer “buy more, save more” deals.
  • Organize Your Items: Group like items together and display everything on tables or racks to make browsing easy.
  • Offer Small Bills & Change: Have plenty of $1s and quarters on hand. Cash apps like Venmo can also be handy for tech-savvy buyers.
  • Don’t Forget Refreshments: A lemonade stand or baked goods table can bring in extra cash and make your sale more welcoming.

Plan Ahead: Donate What Doesn’t Sell

Not everything will find a new home during the garage sale—but that doesn’t mean it has to go to waste. Local donation centers in the Katy-Fulshear area welcome gently used items year-round. Find a list of nearby donation centers and learn how to give back at: Katy/Fulshear Donation Centers

Donating unsold items is a great way to extend the life of your goods, support community organizations, and avoid adding to landfill waste.

Shred Day: Securely Dispose of Sensitive Documents

After the garage sales wrap up, head over to the Splashpad parking lot from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for Spring Shred Day. This complimentary service offers residents a safe and secure way to dispose of outdated financial documents, tax records, and other sensitive papers—just in time for spring cleaning season.

Shredding is done onsite, and there’s no need to remove staples or paper clips. Be sure to arrive early, as the service is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may close early if the truck reaches capacity.

This annual event is just one of many ways the Westheimer Lakes community continues to foster connection, cleanliness, and a little fun along the way. So, circle Saturday, March 14 on your calendar, gather your unused treasures, and get ready to declutter for a good cause—whether it’s cash in your pocket, a cleaner home, or peace of mind from shredded documents.
