Villages of Bear Creek MUD Meeting to Cover Security, Tax Rate, Trail Repairs and Park Projects
For Villages of Bear Creek residents, the next Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 167 meeting will touch on several issues that reach directly into daily neighborhood life — from security cameras and park improvements to utility infrastructure, garbage service and the District’s 2026 tax rate.
The Harris County MUD 167 Board of Directors will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at the offices of Allen Boone Humphries Robinson LLP, 3200 Southwest Freeway, Suite 2400, Angelina Conference Room, in Houston. Public comments are scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.
Security and Neighborhood Safety on the Agenda
Security will be among the first topics discussed. The board is scheduled to receive a report involving security services from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and review security monitoring matters, including cameras and lighting at District facility sites.
For residents, those discussions may be especially relevant because they involve the public spaces and facilities used throughout the community. The agenda also includes an update on graffiti removal and possible proposals for additional work.
Garbage collection and recycling services are also scheduled for discussion.
2026 Tax Rate Discussion Could Be an Important Item for Homeowners
One of the most closely watched items for Villages of Bear Creek property owners may be the District’s 2026 tax rate.
The board is scheduled to discuss the tax rate, set a date for a public hearing and authorize notice of that hearing. The Sept. 16 agenda does not specify what tax rate may ultimately be proposed or adopted, so residents interested in the financial impact should watch for details that emerge during the meeting and subsequent public-hearing process.
The board will also consider approval of the District’s audit for the fiscal year ending May 31, 2026, along with financial reports, investments, bills, tax collections and delinquent-tax matters.
Bear Creek Trail Repairs and Park Improvements Remain in Focus
Several agenda items center on parks and recreational facilities serving the community.
Among them is the Bear Creek trail and sidewalk repair project, along with an update involving the Precinct 4 call for projects. The board is also scheduled to review a park plan and consider projects that could be funded with surplus park bond proceeds.
Another item specifically affecting Villages of Bear Creek is proposed striping for the Villages of Bear Creek pool parking lot.
Landscaping and general park maintenance are also on the agenda, including possible additional work.
For families who use the neighborhood’s trails, parks and recreational areas, these discussions offer a window into how Harris County MUD 167 is planning and maintaining community amenities.
Water, Sewer and Infrastructure Projects Also Scheduled
Behind the more visible neighborhood improvements are several infrastructure projects that can have longer-term implications for reliability and future District needs.
The board is scheduled to discuss the sanitary sewer rehabilitation project, work involving Water Plant No. 2, the District’s Capital Improvement Plan and bond application no. 13. Engineers may also discuss new development inquiries, easements and a proposal for a Phase I environmental site assessment tied to real property acquisition.
Stormwater quality facility maintenance is also scheduled, including possible additional work and a potential change to the maintenance schedule.
The agenda further includes District facility operations, billing, repairs and maintenance. Board members may consider amending the District’s Rate Order, if appropriate, and are scheduled to hold a hearing regarding termination of water and sewer service for delinquent customers.
