Via 313 to Bring Detroit-Style Pizza to Cypress with Grand Opening Celebration Benefiting Cy-Fair Helping Hands

August 13 2025

Cypress is about to get a taste of Detroit—served piping hot and straight from the oven.

Via 313, the Austin-born pizza spot known for its authentic Detroit-style pies, is opening its newest restaurant at 20725 Tuckerton Rd., Ste. 100, on the southeast corner of Tuckerton and Fry in the Bridgeland area, on Thursday, August 15. To celebrate, they’re throwing an all-day party with great food, live local flavor, and a generous dose of community spirit.

And it’s not just about pizza—25% of all proceeds from the day will go to Cy-Fair Helping Hands, a local nonprofit that supports homeless and underserved residents throughout Cypress and Northwest Houston.

A Grand Opening That’s All About Cypress

Via 313’s first day in Cypress will feel more like a neighborhood block party than a traditional ribbon-cutting. Guests can expect:

  • Free photobooth fun by Bub’s Photos
  • Ticket giveaways and community connection with White Oak Music Hall
  • Beer sampling from Eureka Heights Brewery
  • Spirit tastings courtesy of Still Austin
  • Information and resources from Cy-Fair Helping Hands

The event begins when the doors open at 11 a.m. and runs all day long, so whether you stop by for lunch, dinner, or a late-night slice, you’ll be helping make a difference.

From Detroit to Cypress: A Pizza Story

The name “Via 313” is a tribute to the journey of founders Brandon and Zane Hunt, who grew up in Detroit (area code 313) before moving to Texas. In 2011, they opened their first Via 313 out of a small trailer in Austin with one dream—to share Detroit’s unique style of pizza with as many people as possible.

Each Via 313 restaurant brings a piece of Detroit to life. The glowing “Everything Is Going To Be Alright” sign, inspired by an art installation in the city, offers a quiet reminder of resilience and belonging. Walls in Lafayette Coney Island green, playful “313” graffiti from the Heidelberg Project, and industrial touches like metal grates and garage-style walls all pay tribute to the Motor City’s grit and creativity.

Detroit-style pizza stands out with its thick, airy crust, crisp caramelized cheese edges, and square shape. The Hunts stick to tradition: dough that rises for up to two days, cheese layered around the sides for that signature crunch, and sauce added just before serving. The pies bake in steel pans inspired by those used in Detroit’s auto industry, locking in heat for a perfectly crisp bite.

The Menu: Classics, Creative Twists, and Local Drinks

Via 313’s Cypress location will offer its full menu, including fan favorites like The Original Pepperoni, The Cadillac with prosciutto and fig preserves, The Carnivore loaded with meats, and vegetarian picks like The Herbivore or The Marinara. The Ambassador Bridge—topped with natural casing pepperoni, sausage, garlic, oregano, and house-made ricotta—has become a standout for its bold, savory flavor.

The menu also includes gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free options, Midwest-inspired bar-style pizzas, hearty salads, shareable appetizers like the Detroit Duo cheese bread, and indulgent desserts such as the baked-to-order Hub Cap cookie topped with ice cream.

At the bar, guests can sip creative cocktails like the Mezcal Jungle (mezcal, Campari, pineapple, orgeat, lime), or stick to Midwest nostalgia with Faygo pop and Vernor’s Ginger Ale. Happy hour specials, late-night deals, and weekday lunch combos round out the offerings.

A Slice for a Cause

While the food will be a draw on its own, opening day is also about giving back. Cy-Fair Helping Hands works year-round to fight homelessness in the community by providing food, shelter, job support, and compassion. By simply ordering a pizza, guests will be helping fund that mission.

“We can’t wait to celebrate with you, Cypress,” the Via 313 team shared. “From our first trailer in Austin to now, it’s always been about more than pizza—it’s about the people we serve.”
