TxDOT's SH 99 Project Update for Seven Meadows
Attention, Seven Meadows residents! A recent update on the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) SH 99 Project was presented on October 9, 2024. This update provides important insights into the ongoing construction of the main lanes, frontage roads, and noise barriers in our area.
Construction Progress
As of now, three noise barriers have been constructed, with an additional ten noise barriers proposed. This is part of an effort to enhance noise mitigation for our community.
Frontage Roads Update
- Design Status: The design for entrance and exit ramps is progressing well.
- Anticipated Construction Schedule:
- The southbound frontage road from Bay Hill to Cinco Ranch is expected to begin construction in late 2025.
- Remaining segments of the frontage roads are projected to start construction in late 2026, with an estimated completion date of late 2028.
Changes Impacting Seven Meadows
Several key updates have emerged since the last report:
- Design Progression: Ongoing advancements in design have been made based on updated traffic data.
- Noise Barrier Updates: Modifications to the locations, lengths, and heights of noise barriers have been proposed.
Noise Barrier Details
The updated noise barrier plans include:
- Barrier Process: This involves noise workshops and sound wall approvals.
- Location: Proposed barriers will be located 20-30 feet from property lines, with a current proposed height of 20 feet, up from the previously proposed 16 feet.
- Majority Vote: Approval will require a majority vote, which may involve input from residents in the second and third tiers due to sound shadow effects.
Timeline Overview
- Late 2024 to Mid 2025: Completion of on-ROW noise workshops; off-ROW workshops will be held if necessary.
- Late 2025: Main lane construction is expected to be completed, with the construction of the frontage roads beginning shortly thereafter.
- Late 2028: Estimated completion for the frontage road construction.
