TxDOT Cautions Drivers to Drive Sober During Holidays

TxDOT Cautions Drivers to Drive Sober During Holidays

December 12 2023

Are you prepared to make this holiday season not just joyous, but also safe and responsible? Join TxDOT's 'Drive Sober. No Regrets.' campaign that is reaching out across the state, spreading the message of safety and sobriety.

Can you imagine the heartache caused by drunk driving incidents - completely avoidable yet often resulting in prolonged physical, emotional, and financial distress? Not to mention the unimaginable cost of a DWI, which can skyrocket up to a whopping $17,000, and could even cost you your freedom, your job, your loved ones' trust, and leave a lasting stain of regret.

What can you do? It's simple. Enjoy the holiday spirits, but if alcohol is involved, don't take that risk behind the wheel! Make a responsible choice: enlist a sober friend to drive, hail a rideshare or taxi, stay where you are, reach out to a family member or hop on public transport. See someone around you who's had a few too many? Encourage them to make the right choice too. After all, we all have a role to play in keeping our roads and each other safe.

Remember, from now through New Year’s Day, law enforcement are stepping up their game, with more officers on the lookout for impaired drivers. Be part of the movement, visit Sober Rides and learn about the true impact of impaired driving, as well as tips on securing a safe ride home. Stay safe, stay sober, and let's spread the message far and wide. No regrets this holiday season, friends!
