Twenty-Two CFISD Theatre Students Earn Prestigious Texas Theatre Scholars Award
In an outstanding display of talent and dedication, twenty-two CFISD theatre students have showcased their outstanding academic and artistic prowess by winning the prestigious Texas Theatre Scholars Award for the academic year 2023-2024.
The Texas Theatre Scholars Distinction Award program, run by Texas Thespians, is designed to recognize students who excel in their overall academic work and exhibit a distinguished level of theatrical performance. The award is a testament to the students’ commitment to both their academics and their passion for theatre.
Earning this esteemed recognition is by no means an easy task, and it requires a combination of exceptional academics, active participation in theatre activities, and exemplary behavior. To be designated as a Texas Theatre Scholar, a student must be currently enrolled in school and be in good standing with the theatre department on their campus or a similar program.

In addition, the students must display a deep involvement in theatre activities and programs throughout the school year, truly immersing themselves in their craft. Academically, they are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its local equivalent. Students achieving an even higher standard of academic prowess are recognized with additional honors. Those with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 are honored as Vice President’s List Scholars, while those with a perfect 4.0 are distinguished as President’s List Scholars.
However, the criteria don't stop at academics and participation. Theatre Scholars also need to meet any additional local criteria required by their theatre program or school and must exhibit behavior and moral character that is reflective of the honor they bring to their program, school, and community.
The twenty-two CFISD students who have been named as Texas Theatre Scholars have shown an extraordinary commitment to fulfilling these criteria, thereby earning well-deserved recognition. Their achievement serves as an inspiration to their peers and a beacon of excellence for the entire CFISD community.
