Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital Earns No. 3 National Ranking for Quality and Patient Care
For Cypress families, one of the community’s newest hospitals has reached a notable milestone less than two years after opening.
Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital ranked No. 3 among 238 Complex Care Medical Centers nationwide in the 2026 Vizient Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership rankings, an annual national hospital scorecard that evaluates patient care across several quality measures.
The Cypress hospital was joined near the top of the rankings by several other Houston Methodist facilities. Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital ranked No. 1 and Houston Methodist West Hospital ranked No. 2 in the same Complex Care Medical Centers category, while Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital ranked No. 1 among 225 Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Centers. All eight Houston Methodist acute care hospitals earned top-performer recognition this year.

A young Cypress hospital reaches a national milestone
The recognition comes relatively early in the history of Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital. The full-scale acute-care hospital opened in March 2025 along the U.S. 290 corridor, giving Cypress and Northwest Houston residents another option for hospital-based care closer to home. The 105-acre campus opened with 100 beds, 18 emergency room beds, nine operating rooms, 18 childbirth center rooms and eight neonatal intensive care rooms.
Today, the Cypress hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical services, including 24-hour emergency care, heart and vascular care, cancer treatment, breast care, orthopedics and sports medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, stroke care, women's health, childbirth services, gastroenterology, imaging, rehabilitation and primary care.
The campus also incorporates technology that Houston Methodist says was considered from the hospital's earliest planning stages, including remote monitoring, advanced imaging, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, cardiac catheterization labs and a hybrid operating room.

What the Vizient hospital ranking measures
Vizient's Quality Leadership rankings evaluate eligible hospitals using six areas of patient care: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation of care. For residents comparing hospitals in Cypress and Northwest Houston, the ranking provides another point of reference focused specifically on clinical quality and patient outcomes.
Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, which serves many residents across Northwest Houston, also reached the top of its category this year. “Being named No. 1 among 225 Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Centers is an incredible achievement and a proud milestone for Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital,” CEO Keith Barber said. “This recognition belongs to our physicians, hospital leaders and our entire staff, whose commitment to quality, innovation and compassionate care makes a difference in the lives of our patients every day. We are grateful for their extraordinary efforts and proud to be recognized for the unparalleled care we provide.”
For Cypress residents, the national recognition adds another chapter to a hospital campus that is still relatively new to the community. What began with the March 2025 opening of Houston Methodist’s ninth hospital has quickly developed into a broad medical hub where residents can access everything from emergency and maternity care to cancer treatment and complex surgery without traveling into central Houston.
