Towne Lake Shred and E-Waste Recycling Event Returns May 16 for Residents

May 15 2026

As spring cleaning season continues across Cypress, Towne Lake residents will soon have an opportunity to clear out old paperwork, recycle outdated electronics, and protect personal information all in one stop.

The Spring 2026 Towne Lake Shred and E-Waste Event, hosted by Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 501, is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Anthony Middle School, located at 10215 Greenhouse Road in Cypress.

For many families, events like this have become more than just a convenient cleanup day. They also offer a practical way to reduce household clutter, securely dispose of sensitive documents, and keep electronic waste out of local landfills as the Cypress area continues to grow.

Residents attending the Towne Lake community event can bring paper documents for onsite shredding, with a limit of five letter-size boxes per household. Organizers noted that documents will be shredded onsite for added security and convenience.

The electronics recycling portion of the event will also accept a wide range of common household technology items, including computers, laptops, monitors, printers, routers, keyboards, phones, cables, DVD players, scanners, fax machines, and certain televisions. Flat panel TVs up to 55 inches and CRT televisions up to 36 inches will be accepted.

According to event guidelines, paperclips do not need to be removed from documents before shredding. However, boxes and bags cannot be shredded, and electronics should be removed from any packaging materials before drop-off.

Why Community Recycling Events Matter in Growing Areas Like Towne Lake

As communities like Towne Lake continue expanding, neighborhood recycling and disposal events are becoming increasingly important for both environmental stewardship and everyday household safety.

Electronic waste, often referred to as e-waste, can contain materials that should not be placed in standard trash collection. Community recycling events help residents responsibly dispose of aging technology while also encouraging sustainable habits across the neighborhood.

Document shredding events also provide peace of mind for residents looking to safely dispose of old financial records, medical paperwork, tax documents, and other materials containing sensitive personal information.

What Residents Need to Bring

The event is open to Towne Lake residents, and attendees will need to provide proof of residency, such as a current utility bill, at check-in.

Residents planning to attend are encouraged to arrive prepared, especially since community recycling events often see strong turnout during the spring season.

Event Details

Towne Lake residents looking to responsibly recycle electronics or safely dispose of personal documents may find this event to be one of the community’s most practical spring cleanup opportunities.
