Towne Lake Developer Caldwell Companies Builds CEO Home for Boys and Girls Country, Deepening Mission to Support Children in Crisis

June 02 2025

For more than 50 years, Boys and Girls Country has provided children from families in crisis a safe, loving home rooted in faith and community. Now, thanks to a generous collaboration between Caldwell Companies—developer of Towne Lake—and the Hamill Foundation, the nonprofit has taken a major step forward by welcoming a new onsite residence for its Chief Executive Officer, Vincent Duran.

Built by Caldwell Homes on Boys and Girls Country’s scenic 200-acre campus in Hockley, the new home enables Duran and his family to live onsite and be more present in the daily lives of the children and staff. The home was officially unveiled during a heartfelt ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by supporters and leadership.

“Simply amazing,” said Duran. “Living onsite at Boys and Girls Country makes all the difference in the world, both in terms of overseeing the operation but also connecting with our children. We’re grateful to Caldwell Homes and the Hamill Foundation for making this possible. It’s a wonderful gift for the community.”

A Home That Builds Connection

The thoughtfully designed two-story home includes an open-concept layout with a spacious kitchen and living area, a home office for Duran, and a second-floor game room for his two young sons. Beyond serving as a family residence, the space will also be used for hosting board meetings, donor receptions, and informal gatherings with the children—creating a warm, approachable environment that encourages trust and connection.

“This organization has been on my heart for a long time, and it’s an honor to play a small part in supporting their mission,” said Susan Caldwell of Caldwell Companies. “Our hope is that this home is a vessel for the work being done at Boys and Girls Country and provides many happy memories for the Duran family.”

Deep Roots and Enduring Impact

Founded in 1971, Boys and Girls Country has helped raise more than 1,600 children in crisis, offering long-term housing, educational support, and spiritual guidance. In 2021 alone, 83 children and young adults found stability and care through the program.

Children live in one of eleven on-campus cottages—four of which have recently been rebuilt into spacious, 8,500-square-foot homes. Each cottage is home to eight children and two Teaching Parents, who serve as full-time caregivers and provide the structure, love, and mentorship kids need to thrive. From homework help and homecooked meals to values-based encouragement and accountability, Boys and Girls Country helps children grow into self-sustaining, contributing adults.

The addition of the CEO’s residence reflects the organization’s unwavering commitment to consistent leadership and compassionate presence. By living onsite, Duran deepens his day-to-day engagement with staff and children alike, bringing even greater strength to the nonprofit’s mission.
