Towne Lake Community Book Drive Brings the Gift of Reading to Local Children This Holiday Season
The holiday spirit is alive and well in Towne Lake, where neighbors are coming together to support a heartwarming cause: the Community Book Drive benefiting Barkley’s Bookshelf. From now until November 14, residents are invited to participate by donating new children’s books that will bring joy and inspiration to local kids this season.
The drive is part of a larger community effort to support Cy-Hope and Cy-Fair Helping Hands holiday events, where the donated books will be distributed to children in need. The goal? To give every child the chance to own a book they can cherish—one that can ignite their imagination, build confidence, and support literacy skills.
Multiple Ways to Give Back
Whether you prefer shopping online or supporting local businesses, Towne Lake has made it easy for everyone to get involved:
-
Shop Online: Browse and purchase books directly from the curated Amazon Wishlist or Walmart Book Registry and have them shipped directly to Barkley’s Bookshelf.
-
Drop-Off Option: Residents can also drop off books at The Lakehouse if they’d rather pick them out in person and support local stores.
“Enriching children’s love of reading by providing books that they can call their own” is the mission behind this initiative, and Towne Lake families are stepping up to make it happen.

Why It Matters
Reading is a gift that lasts a lifetime. For children in under-resourced communities, owning a book can be life-changing. Not only does it foster a love for reading, but it also supports academic success and emotional development. By participating in the book drive, Towne Lake residents are helping make a direct impact right here in the Cypress-Fairbanks area.
Get Involved Today
Donations are being accepted through November 14, so there’s still time to participate. Whether you donate one book or many, your contribution will help bring smiles to children this holiday season.
