For two days in June, Tomball will become a gathering place for artists, collectors, and creative enthusiasts from across Texas as the Lone Star Art Guild Annual Art Show brings together an extraordinary collection of award-winning artwork under one roof.

Hosted with support from the Tomball Art League, the annual exhibition will take place June 12-13 at the Lone Star Beckendorf Conference Center on the Lone Star College-Tomball campus. The event will feature artists representing 12 Texas art leagues, many of whom have already earned top honors in juried competitions throughout the state.

For local residents, the show offers a rare opportunity to experience museum-quality artwork without leaving the community while meeting the artists behind the work and gaining insight into their creative processes.

The exhibition arrives at a time when Tomball continues to strengthen its reputation as a destination for arts, culture, and small-town experiences. Visitors attending the event will not only find award-winning artwork, but also a chance to explore the city's historic downtown, local shops, restaurants, museums, and popular weekend attractions.

A Showcase Reserved for Award-Winning Artists

Unlike many art exhibitions that accept open submissions, participation in the Lone Star Art Guild Annual Art Show is earned.

Each artist featured in the exhibition qualified by placing first, second, third, or receiving First Honorable Mention in a juried competition hosted by their home art league. The result is a collection of artwork that has already been recognized by judges for its artistic merit and technical excellence.

Visitors can expect to see a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums, including paintings, drawings, pastels, mixed media works, photography, and three-dimensional art.

Because artists come from communities throughout Texas, the exhibition offers a broad perspective on the state's creative talent, showcasing everything from traditional fine art techniques to contemporary interpretations and experimental approaches.

More Than an Art Show

One of the unique aspects of this year's event is the opportunity for visitors to engage directly with artists and learn more about their craft.

Throughout the three-day event schedule, attendees will be able to observe 18 artist demonstration sessions covering a variety of artistic techniques and mediums. Demonstrations will take place on an ongoing basis Thursday, June 11, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event will also feature several art-related partners and vendors, including the Pastel Society of Texas, Watercolor Art Society-Houston, Rosemary's Brushes, and Studio Texas.

For those interested in purchasing original artwork, many pieces will be available for sale, creating opportunities for collectors and first-time buyers alike to take home work created by some of Texas' most accomplished artists.

Continuing a Texas Tradition More Than Six Decades in the Making

The Lone Star Art Guild traces its roots back to 1961, when the organization was founded in Brenham with a mission of bringing together independent art leagues for an annual exhibition and competition.

Over the decades, the nonprofit organization has expanded from serving leagues within a few hundred miles of Houston to encompassing member organizations throughout Texas.

Today, the guild provides opportunities for artists of varying experience levels to compete within their medium and skill division while encouraging artistic growth and collaboration among leagues statewide.

Its annual exhibition remains one of the organization's signature events, serving as both a celebration of artistic achievement and a gathering of Texas' diverse creative community.

Tomball Art League Helps Bring Statewide Event to the Community

The Tomball Art League's involvement in hosting the event reflects the organization's longstanding commitment to supporting local artists and expanding access to the arts throughout the region.

For years, the league has provided educational opportunities, exhibitions, workshops, and community programs designed to encourage artistic development and appreciation. By helping bring a statewide exhibition to Tomball, the organization is giving local residents direct access to artwork and artists they might otherwise need to travel to larger metropolitan galleries to experience.

Awards, Judging and Public Viewing

Judging for the exhibition will take place Friday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to noon while the show area is temporarily closed to the public.

Award presentations for "Best Of" winners and first-place recipients are scheduled for Friday, June 12, at 1:30 p.m., followed by additional critiques as time allows.

The public exhibition hours are:

• Friday, June 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Admission is open to the public.

Make a Day of It in Tomball

Event organizers are encouraging visitors to spend time exploring Tomball while attending the art show.

Just minutes from the exhibition venue, visitors can experience the historic Tomball Railroad Depot, browse downtown boutiques and antique stores, visit the Tomball Museum Center, or stop by the popular Tomball Farmers Market, which operates on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local landmarks and businesses such as Goodson's Café, Main Street Crossing, The Whistle Stop Tea Room, Cherry Street Antiques, Turquoise Door, and Granny's Corner continue to draw visitors seeking the small-town character that has made Tomball one of the Houston area's most popular destination communities.
