Tomball Man Turns Home Into a Christmas Wonderland — All for a Good Cause

December 11 2025

Every December, a quiet street in the Willow Forest subdivision transforms into something truly extraordinary—thanks to one man with a big heart and an even bigger love for Christmas.

At 41 years old, Lance White—lovingly known as “Mr. G” or “Mr. Grinch” to his Tomball neighbors—has become a local holiday legend. Though he doesn’t have children of his own, he’s brought joy to hundreds of families with his elaborate, ever-growing Christmas Wonderland. This year, he’s done more than ever before—and all for a good cause.

From the moment visitors arrive at 22727 Black Willow Lane, they’re greeted by whimsical lights, festive music, and a towering 25-foot Grinch who looms playfully over the display. But the heart of the experience lies in the newest addition: a full-blown “Texas Christmas tree farm” lining his driveway, where 13 uniquely decorated trees guide families through a glowing, joyful path of themed scenes—each one a little love letter to the season.

“This is all about giving joy back to the community,” said Lance White, aka Mr. G. “Each year I try to make it even more magical for families to experience together.”

Decorations range from military tributes and first responder themes to quirky favorites like rubber duckies and gnomes, all lovingly arranged by Mr. G himself. Children are invited to write their wishes and hang them on the Children’s Wish Tree, and families often linger to take photos, sip free cocoa on select nights, and simply enjoy the spirit of the season.

Neighbors say Lance’s home doesn’t just shine—it glows with warmth, creativity, and the kind of holiday cheer that turns strangers into friends.

But for Lance, this isn't just about twinkling lights. For the second year in a row, he’s using his Christmas Wonderland to raise funds for Texas Children’s Hospital. A secure donation box is placed beside a humorous Grinch poem near Santa’s mailbox, inviting guests to give what they can. His goal this season? To raise $4,000 to help brighten the holidays for children facing medical challenges.

“I proudly created this display to support a wonderful charity and help make the holidays a little brighter for sick children,” said White. “There’s absolutely no obligation, but every bit helps.”

Visitors can enjoy the display nightly through December, weather permitting:

  • Monday–Thursday, 6:00–9:00 PM – Lights on and photo ops
  • Friday & Saturday, 6:00–9:00 PM – Lights + free cocoa, marshmallows & coffee
  • Sunday, 3:00–9:00 PM – Lights on and photo ops
  • Sunday, 3:00–6:00 PM – Free treats available

Mr. G may work solo on the display, but his impact is felt far and wide. “He brings so much joy to our area, and supporting Texas Children’s Hospital makes it even better,” one neighbor shared. “We’d love to see his story shared with even more people—it deserves to be.”

So if you’re looking for free holiday fun in Tomball or wondering where to see the best Christmas lights in northwest Houston, Mr. G’s house is the place to go. You’ll find a little magic, a lot of heart, and maybe even a moment that stays with you long after the lights go out.
