Tidy Up Tomball: Community Clean-Up Event Returns April 12, 2025

February 24 2025

The bi-annual Tidy Up Tomball clean-up event is set to take place on April 12, 2025, bringing together businesses, schools, organizations, and local residents to help beautify the City of Tomball. Participants will gather at the Tomball Baptist Church parking lot, located at 401 Oxford St., Tomball, TX 77375, to kick off a morning of litter collection and environmental stewardship.

How the Clean-Up Works

Tidy Up Tomball is open to everyone, including families, friends, and community groups. Volunteers will check in at 8:00 a.m. to receive their materials, route assignments, and safety gear. After a brief announcement and sponsor recognition session at 8:45 a.m., teams will disperse to their designated clean-up areas. The event will conclude at 11:00 a.m., with teams returning to the starting location to check out supplies and enjoy a free lunch as a thank-you for their hard work.

What Volunteers Will Receive

At check-in, each team will receive a route assignment with a map, trash bags, gloves, and safety vests to ensure a safe and organized cleanup. Additionally, they will be provided with trash pickers, first aid kits, and sharps containers to handle any potentially hazardous materials. To keep participants energized, bottled water, coffee, and breakfast will be available at the start of the event, with a free lunch offered upon completing their assigned route.

Participants are encouraged to wear full-length pants, comfortable shoes, hats, and sunscreen, as some routes may include ditches, slopes, or tall grass. Volunteers may also bring their own gloves or pickers if preferred, and a wagon is recommended for carrying supplies.

Tidy Up Tomball’s Growing Impact

Tidy Up Tomball was founded in September 2023 by local business owners Amanda Trickey and Jonetta Barnett, who saw a rising litter issue in Tomball and wanted to take action. Inspired by The Big Event at Texas A&M, they presented the idea to Mayor Lori Klein Quinn and the Tomball City Council, receiving unanimous support. Within six months, the organization achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, formed a dedicated Board of Directors, and hosted its first clean-up event on November 4, 2023, where 180 volunteers collected 300 pounds of trash.

Since then, the initiative has grown significantly, coordinating over 600 volunteers and removing nearly 8,000 pounds of trash from the community. On February 3, 2025, Mayor Quinn recognized Tidy Up Tomball’s efforts with an official proclamation, stating:

“Tidy Up Tomball actively fosters a sense of civic responsibility among young residents by providing community service opportunities and hands-on environmental education. With 44.86% of participants being 18 years or younger, the organization is shaping the next generation of environmental stewards and instilling lifelong habits of sustainability and community involvement.”
