The Woodlands Show Chorus Wins Regional Championship, Secures Spot at 2026 International Competition

April 09 2025

The soaring harmonies of The Woodlands Show Chorus have earned them another sweeping victory, as the award-winning vocal ensemble was recently crowned Top Medium-Sized Chorus and Champion Overall Chorus in the Gulf Coast Region 10 of Sweet Adelines International. With this regional win, the Conroe-based group has officially qualified for the Sweet Adelines International Competition, set to take place in Columbus, Ohio in fall 2026.

This year’s championship carries added meaning for the chorus, marking a triumphant start under their newly appointed director, Kerri Mauney of Tomball, who took the helm just three months ago. Their impressive score at regionals not only secured a coveted place at the global event—but also earned Mauney the title of Master Director, a prestigious recognition within the barbershop harmony world.

“We have won the regional title every time we’ve competed since our inception in 2012, qualifying for international competition each time,” said Brenda Anderson, chorus member and Marketing Manager. “With our beloved former director, the legendary Betty Clipman, we had the privilege of competing across the country. Now, with Kerri at the helm—who was our Associate Director from the beginning—it’s clear she was already a Master Director in spirit.”

Meet The Woodlands Show Chorus

The Woodlands Show Chorus is a championship-level women’s a cappella ensemble, affiliated with Sweet Adelines International, one of the world’s largest singing organizations for women. Based in Conroe, Texas, the group draws vocalists from across Montgomery County and the Greater Houston area. Known for their tight harmonies, electric stage presence, and emotional storytelling, the chorus has consistently ranked among the top choruses in the nation since its formation.

But the chorus is more than just a competition powerhouse—it's a community treasure. This March, they performed a medley of musical favorites at the City of Conroe Spring Festival, hosted by the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance. And this summer, they’ll take the stage as the opening act for the Houston Symphony’s Star-Spangled Salute on July 3 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands.

A Chorus Built on Harmony—and Heart

The Woodlands Show Chorus thrives not just on music, but on connection and camaraderie. Their Monday evening rehearsals at First Presbyterian Church of Conroe are a blend of focused vocal training and supportive sisterhood.

“The bonds formed at our rehearsals are truly special,” Anderson shared. “Women of all ages come together not just to sing, but to connect, grow, and support one another.”

Their success on the competitive stage is a reflection of the group’s mission to empower, uplift, and inspire through music—and they’re always looking to welcome new voices.
