The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill Coming to Tomball’s Grand at 249 Development

Tomball’s rapidly growing dining scene is getting another new addition — and this one brings generations of Mediterranean family recipes to one of the region’s busiest retail corridors.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is preparing to open a new location at The Grand at 249, the large mixed-use retail development located at the intersection of Highway 249 and the Grand Parkway in Tomball. According to project filings, the restaurant will be located at 25545 State Highway 249, Suite 140, with construction expected to begin June 10, 2026 and wrap up in November 2026.

The project includes a 2,000-square-foot interior tenant finish-out with an estimated construction cost of $450,000.

For Tomball-area residents, the addition is another sign of how quickly the Highway 249 and SH 99 corridor continues evolving into a major destination for shopping, dining and entertainment. The Grand at 249 itself is a 65-acre mixed-use development positioned in the center of Tomball’s ongoing growth corridor.

A Mediterranean Restaurant Brand Built on Family Recipes

While many fast-casual restaurants focus on speed first, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has built its reputation around traditional Greek recipes, fresh ingredients and a more family-centered dining experience.

The brand traces its roots back to a small Greek restaurant in Henderson, Nevada, originally opened in 2011 by a Greek-Armenian family using recipes passed down through generations. In 2016, longtime neighbors Nick Della Penna and Trent Jones took over the restaurant after what they describe as “love at first bite” during an early visit where they sampled Greek gyros, a Four Dip Combo, Mom’s rice pudding and baklava ice cream.

What began as a single neighborhood restaurant has since expanded into a growing national franchise with locations across multiple states.

The company says it has intentionally kept the original recipes unchanged while focusing on fresh-made sauces, Mediterranean spice blends, healthier ingredients and made-to-order meals.

Their menu includes a mix of traditional Greek favorites and modern Mediterranean fast-casual options, including:

  • Gyro plates and pita wraps
  • Chicken, steak, lamb and shrimp souvlaki
  • Greek rice bowls and salads
  • Falafel plates and pita sandwiches
  • Hummus, tzatziki and spanakopita
  • Lemon potatoes and feta fries
  • Baklava, rice pudding and baklava ice cream

Families may also appreciate the restaurant’s kid-friendly menu, which includes items like grilled cheese pita, chicken fingers and smaller gyro plates.

The Grand at 249 Continues Expanding

The Tomball location will join a growing lineup of restaurants and retailers already operating or planned at The Grand at 249. Site plans for the development show The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill positioned alongside other restaurants and retail brands in the southwest corner portion of the project.

The development sits at one of northwest Harris County’s busiest intersections and serves residents from Tomball, Cypress, Magnolia and Spring. Marketing materials for the project note that approximately 164,000 residents live within five miles of the site.

The area has seen especially strong residential growth in recent years, fueled by continued expansion along the Grand Parkway and Tomball Tollway corridors.

Current tenants and planned businesses at The Grand at 249 include national retailers, restaurants, fitness concepts and entertainment destinations, creating the kind of regional shopping center many northwest Houston residents previously had to leave the area to visit.

Why This Matters for Tomball Residents

For local families, the arrival of The Great Greek offers more than just another restaurant opening.

Mediterranean dining continues growing in popularity nationwide as more consumers look for fresher ingredients, lighter meals and customizable options that still feel filling and family-friendly. The addition also brings another cuisine category to Tomball’s expanding restaurant landscape, giving residents more variety close to home.

It also reinforces how quickly The Grand at 249 is becoming one of the area’s emerging commercial hubs — a development that continues attracting both national brands and new investment into the Tomball area.

As construction continues across the corridor, many residents are watching closely to see what businesses arrive next.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is expected to open following construction completion later this year.
